Your right on the money. His father is an interesting chap with a number of pre war cars of which one is a lagonda sports car. All kept in a barn adjourning his house along with the 911. Never seen it move as of yetSlope330 wrote:think it retained the rs flares throughout.........did nt know about lollipops

The 3.2 is a relatively new addition , in the car when I bought it .911hillclimber wrote:This is an interesting thread.

I see your E is 73 with a 3.2
Did you by chance know Bob Watson in around 1993 and fit your 3.2 then?
I bought a 2.4E in bits in a box from Bob, the owner was putting a 3.2 into his E

The E was a very popular car to use as the basis for the various Porsche Club championships. Buy one and with minimal spec changes (upgrade brakes, fit oil cooler, RS ARBs and RS dampers) straight into the lower 'learner' class. Then as you progressed you could simply build an S or RS spec engine, which were cheap as chips in those days, and enter it in the higher classes. I think many of the cars listed as S and RS in the entries would have been an E chassis with the appropriate spec engine for the class, especially as time went on and the RS and S became more and more valuable as road cars.

As I've said before I have acquired (from Bob Watson) some DVD clips of some races in the 1988 and 1989 PCGB Pirelli Championship races.
I (think) I've uploaded one (final race of 88 season at Brands Hatch) to you-tube, so anyone with a car racing in that category at that time could have a look out for theirs. The quality isn't great so number plate spotting is a bit iffy, but you can see some of the plates pretty well. Certainly mine (AMR 900L) is clearly visible especially in the latter stages of the race.
It takes about 2.5 hrs to upload one of these to you-tube, so I won't be doing all of them, but I might give another one a go.
It's worth a look even if you've no car of that era anyway!

Re: 1972 / 1973 RHD 2.4E's - a lot of uk cars with comp hist
Managed to pick up a copy of Porsche Post from '85 featuring my car on the cover in it's original Gemini Blue .

According to the blurb on the inside cover the pic was taken at Lydden with the car on its way to a class C win during the Easter meet .This would mean it was probably still running its original 2.4E motor then .
The only other picture I have of the while it was still blue is from '81 ,
So , as I've got photos of the car in white but still narrow bodied in '86 but running as a 2.7 RS spec in class A it's fair to assume it was turned into a full on striped out racer over the winter of 85/86 .
I've also managed to get the name of the first owner in Brighton so There may be more history to come .
