belt up!

(Sorry if this is covered elsewhere - my search only gave me results to satisfy owners who want repro / genuine belts).

I need to replace the front seatbelts in my 72E. Not too worried about getting the correct article - that search can come later - but am after the closest high street fitted item (kwikfit/who?) that won't look out of place in the car.

Anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks Peter - that was the place I was thinking of.
Long old drive from SW London to get the car there though! It's booked in on the day before the next Fairmile meet, so we can compare their handiwork then!
Any advice to give me as to how I should instruct them? IE, did you get them to do anything specific with the mountings / belt type etc?

I've found a 'low-cost' option which I've literally purchased & fitted today !

I too was looking for some 'off-the-shelf' seatbelts to replace the old inertia reel ones fitted in my '72 911T.

I checked the previous posts on DDK & noted Gary71's comments about the Securon belts so I did some checking around...

On comparing specifications on the Securon website between Porsche & other makes utilising the same recommended belts I discovered that various BMW, VW, Audi, Peugeot, etc models also them.

Further investigation revealed that Eurocar Parts had them in stock (although not listed for early Porsches) & that they were....

£24-95 + VAT each !

So total cost for a pair of belts inc VAT was £58-63.

If anyone is interested, the Eurocar Parts part number is:

956770061 (Securon part number 500/15)

Incidentally, on the Securon website they are listed as £67-97 ea !!

Lewis - I'm not sure whether the swb cars have the mounting points in the same locations as the later cars fitted originally with inertia reel belts.

Fitment requires a threaded mounting point on either side of the seat base plus one in the rear side panel.

So do you get everything you need? All the bolts etc? My car had static belts and I've read a lot of people saying that they are worried about fitting belts themselves. I've never understoon this as its the same to me as working on your own brakes, suspension etc - mess up and it hurts.

Is there a left side and a right side or are they universal (I don't have the brain power this morning to think this problem through!)

Nick - the belts are not 'handed' - the same part number fits both sides.

They come in original Securon boxes & contain all parts needed including bolts/washers/brkts (for non-Porsche fitment) etc, although I re-used the original short bolts on the sides of the seats as those supplied are too long.

Anyone know if Securon make a belt suitable for the rear of a 911. I think that there's a difference as the reel sits horizontally?

mmm... Bootsy, I think we should be careful telling everyone that Quickfit give us 10% discount because they don't. I've just had my belts done and although they have done a great job, Stuart the boss wasn't keen to give any discount at all, despite plenty of ddk name dropping.
After a lot of hard pleading (and I mean a lot) they gave me 10% off the retail price of the belts ONLY which was only a smallish part of the final £700+ bill.
Not a moan, but people should be aware of the facts...

Just ordered a new pair from Euro. When Andy first brought them to our attention they were out of stock. Well they're back in again. Also, free delivery for over £50 during June. I was quoted about £300 for the fronts only as I remember from Quickfit!
