356 1600s Engine 1959

1959 porsche 356 super engine.
Built by the late great Barry Curtis who was one of the top UK 356 engine builders.
Not even run in. I had it rebuilt as a spare for my 57 coupe and never used it.
Totally rebuilt from scratch.
Crank balanced.
New webcam 912 cam.
Late rods
Shasta 83.5 pistons
Rebored cylinders to match.
Cam followers skimmed.
Rockers rebuilt.
Zenith carbs rebuilt.
020 distributor - rebuilt by vintagewerks USA.
New clutch.
All new bearings.
New valves.
New valve guides.
New pushrod tubes.
High performance oil cooler (new)
Brand new sports exhaust from PR services.
One flapper box has been altered so assume it needs replacing.

This is as close as you can get to a brand new engine.

I watched Barry as he built the engine and i was the photographer / helper / notetaker.
I was interested in seeing how an engine was rebuilt from scratch.
