356 owners in Surrey/Berks

Post by tmesis »

Hello - I'm new to the forum.
I've owned my 1954 pre A since 1987. It's a very long story but I went half way down the road of restoration about 20 years ago which was then abandoned until finally getting it restored (at enormous cost) about a year ago. It now looks fantastic and is in excellent mechanical nick and I love owning it.

I just wondered if there are any other local owners I could compare notes with. I'm in Windlesham on the Surrey/Berks border.

Hello and welcome to Ddk. Your car sounds wonderful, and we'd all love to see some pics of it.

I'm a 356A owner, but down near Bristol I'm afraid. I'm sure there'll be rather more local owners along very soon. Hope you enjoy the forum, and get lots out of it.

Hullo there and welcome! I'm neglected between Stroud and Cirencester, but mine is a 356C, so beneath the salt in these exalted circles.

Pictures would be good, yours sounds a terrific car.

356s seem thin on the ground in the U.K.

We had an excellent flat 4 drive last year in the Cotswolds/Malvern Hills. We should have another this year please come along.

There is also a Porsche get together on the 3rd Wed of each month organised by Chris Turner. Look in the events sections for details.

I'd be very much in for a summer flat 4 turn. I'm based in London but my car is in Lincolnshire. I had it garaged here for a while but found I the time trying to get out of London took the shine off enjoying it properly.

Will keep my eyes peeled for a summer drive out and general tyre kick though.

Here's my restored 1954 pre A, now back to its original pearl grey.

Very nice indeed, Pearl Grey (5407?) is the original color for my '55 Continental also so always great to see a freshly painted example.

Would love to see a few more photos if you had any more to share.

hi tmesis , that looks very good , nice panel gaps and good colour .
There is a good 356 drive organised by Richard East , East Sussex and Kent , next one is 25 April calling in at Paragon.

I get down to Goodwood a fair bit , usually in a 356C , next drive is 18/19 March Members Meeting . Before then will be at Oulton Park , Porsche RS track day , in a pre A !

You may hear more about 356 events if you join the pre A Facebook group and the 356 Registry . There is a small 356 gang in PCGB , but if you are not already a member of the Club then not really worth joining , I am there from inertia and long term 911 ownership ! There is a good 356 International meeting every year , this year in Roses Spain , next year in UK !!

PM me if you want to join the East Sussex / Kent drive

The restoration was done by Roger Bray

If you're interested go to rogerbrayrestoration.com, click on projects, highlight past projects and my car is the second one down on the left. Lots of pictures there.
