Porsche 912 R outlaw car for sale

Post by elliot »

I'd like this to go to a good home, so thought I'd offer it on here first. I'm looking for £17,500. there is some haggling room but i do have a firm bottom line below which I'd rather wrap it up and store it. A brief spec and some up to date photos are as follows.

PORSCHE 912 Hotrod / Outlaw / “R” look a like.

UK supplied RHD 1st reg 25.04.1967 with C.O.A. from Porsche (dated 1992).

MOT 21.07.12. Will have 12 months MOT prior to sale.

Tax 30.06.13 (historic status no value)

Aquired 7 years ago as an abandoned race car, track day project, this car has had a considerable amount of work and money put into it’s rebuild. Including new floor, rear chassis rails etc.

911R pattern lightweight glass fibre front wings, front & rear bumpers/valences, from GT racing in the USA. R pattern vented rear quarter lights. Rear R type light clusters. The interior is a race car style (stripped bare) and painted in satin black. It includes a rear half cage, replica period Recaro seats, 4 point Willans harnesses, and Momo prototipo steering wheel.

Suspension.
New Koni adjustable shock absorbers/struts front and rear, later 74/75 front cross member with all new bushes, and a 22mm under body anti roll bar. Original swb steering rack with anti bump steer kit and new turbo tie rods + rod ends. The rear has all new bushes and an 18mm anti roll bar.

Brakes.
New dual circuit master cylinder, all new copper hard lines. Goodridge stainless steel flexible hoses, new vented drilled front discs with new hubs bearings etc, reconditioned alloy S callipers, new solid drilled rear discs with new Bendix callipers, it’s also fitted with a cockpit mounted rear brake bias adjuster valve.

Engine.
2056 cc type 4, 96mm pistons & cylinders, with a stock 71mm crank and rods checked and refurbed with ARP rod bolts, lightened flywheel, all dynamically balanced. Scat C45 camshaft with lube a lobe lifters. Ported and flowed heads with 44mm inlets and 38mm exhaust valves dual springs. Twin Dellortto 40s with CSP short stack manifolds match ported to the heads. Bosch 009 distributor with Lumenition optrotronic ignition. Porsche alternator and cooling fan, with stock type 4 oil cooler. Steel exhaust headers with a modified stainless steel 912E rear box.
The engine pulls very strongly up to 6k has a slightly heavy idle but is quite happy trickling through traffic. It has very strong oil pressure and no leaks.

Transmission
Original 912 5 speed which had freshen up 2 years ago (not a full rebuild) which included, new 1st gear dog ring, new 1st 2nd & 3rd gear syncro rings, and a couple of new bearings, and fresh Swepco 201. It shifts through all 5 gears smoothly and quietly, fitted Wevo short shifter, plus all new linkage bushes etc.

Wheels and tyres.
Revolution classic 5 spoke, 6”flat spoke fronts with 195. 65.15 V Falken ZE912s. 8” dished spoke rears with 225. 60. 15 V Falken ZE912s.

The bad points.
The paint is not going to win any competitions, and some panel gaps could be better. There’s no heating system, some of the glass is scratched in places. There is a slight whine noticeable from the diff, this would probably not be heard if the car had some sound proofing and a carpet set. The oil temperature gauge only works intermittently; original rev counter which is still fitted works but reads erratically, a modern 80mm instrument is fitted in place of the clock.

Some of the original removed parts steering wheel, hood catches etc will come with the car.
