I know my 1965 (66 model) car had suffered accident damage sometime in its life. The signs are still there on the body. The nearside door has been replaced as it does not carry the correct number - as the offside door does.
Now the correct number is 136 and the replacement is 60 which is stamped more towards the inner rear than usual.
Am I correct in thinking that the 'donor' car was chassis number 301160. If so, I wonder what happened to it?
The other thought that crossed my mind was that it could have been a 912 door but I don't know if any 912s had come into the UK at that point.
The other odd feature is that it appears to be the same colour (Gulf Blue) in the more hidden-away interior recesses. Only two Gulf Blue 911 cars came to the UK according to production year '66 figures. And I was given to understand that mine was the only one that actually came in during 1965.
Intriguing!!!!
Any ideas or help folks?
