Thanks guys for the kind words, pics don't do the paint job justice and looking forwards to seeing the car polished tomorrow/Wednesday. Should have the car home certainly before the end of the week when I'll get peace and quite to work away at my own pace - still a fair bit to be done.

Any recommendations for a 2 in twin centre out exhaust other than dansk?

Not shiny anymore :( but needs to be to get the finish required. Being flattened with 2000 W&D then with 3000 then 6000 grit pad before cutting. Some amount of time needed to get it looking right and would have been much less if we didn't have the stripes......

Ref silencer:
For years I ran a 2 in/ 3 out system where you could be sensible and cap-off the centre two 'direct' tail pipes, and the gases came out of the stock position.
It was a full early rally silencer made by Leistrich (spelling) and no longer available.

Will all 3 exits open, the engine takes on a new lease of life, nearly noisy enough for Darren, sounds great and improved response no end. Tick over went up 200 rpm incidentally.
Eventually after 26 years of use is is too far gone.
You can modify a stock dansk to do the same thing, details on the web with some cut n shut on the silencer and a bit of welding.
I know someone who did just this mod on his 2.2T and it is great. He kept the stock outlet and made caps for the centre two.

You could do worse and find Turbo Thomas exhausts. www.ttexhausts.com

What you really need is a set of early magnesium American Racing Mags for that authentic 60's look.

Yes its a pain, not for me as just watching - well maybe a pain as it prolongs the day the car is back in my shed - but yes makes a huge difference to the final job. Pics don't really show the depth of the glasurit paint and clear coat - well impressed with the guys who are doing this for me - well impressed.

Final cutting of the paint this afternoon has left the paint gleaming. Tomorrow will see the car finished with only cavity wax application and some black body schutz to inner wing areas that had some white over-spray.

Fingers crossed and home tomorrow.......

Looks stunning - wet sanding pays dividends on a colour like white where you can really boost the reflections
