In true DDK fashion the idea was dealt with in a relaxed manner and it took us a while to put our plan in action but this morning a few of us finally got together and paid Barry a surprise visit :) .....

Early morning meet up....

Image

....and then on to Barry's workshop....

Image

....where Barry had the opportunity to inspect his very first Porsche project, his own car at the time....

Image

Image

...as well as the car of his first paying customer...

Image

.....where we then presented Barry with 16 framed photographs of his former projects....

Image

....golden rule when visiting Barry is always bring cake! :P ....

Image

Image

....great to catch up with everyone and a good opportunity to show Barry just how much he's appreciated in our early Porsche community :)

Cheers,

How sweet. :)
Good to see Barry looking so well.
And no surprise to see all his cars looking so good. Jobs well done. :salute:

Excellent. Really great idea in the true DDK spirit. Part of my rear quarter and the bottom of the LH front wing are Barry, but not had the full treatment yet!

That was a fun day out, good to see everyone.
Darren - many thanks for arranging, and for the invitation even though I was an imposter (the car I came in has never been Barry'd).
Cheers, Richard.

Some pics from me. Jamie will doubtless be along later with much better shots. After he's picked up a truly bonkers new toy...

At Jonny's, framed photos were unloaded from Darren's special white van...

... and some other nice cars turned up.

They were dirty. Dirty is good.

At Barry's, Darren gave a masterclass in slam panel profiles. Until we begged him to stop.

And on the way home, I tried and mostly failed to keep up with Darren in an E, and Jamie in some orange thing he'd borrowed for the occasion.
Flames from the exhaust were good (when I was close enough to see them).

It was great to see Barry and his cars. It was a shame not to turn up in his 3rd car, my Targa but the brake master cylinder didn't turn up. So Many thanks to James for the lift in "Barry's car " for which I did try to earn my ride by tweaks to the EFI map. ( sorry for tweaking the wrong setting while along side the truck on the M25, a bit heart stopping but I set it back !!)
Great cars, great people. DDK spirit !

Fantastic :)

Barry is a one off :) . Loverly gesture and hopefully one that makes Barry realise how much we appreciate his skills and knowledge ( and I'm talking as someone who's car hasn't had the carter touch , but as a friend of his )

Big thanks to Darren and of course Barry.
