The West Coast Scene

Post by Ferry Man »

I seem to have been on holiday for most of this month (some life/work balance malarkey that my wife keeps going on about) and much of it has been in the 2.4S.
We drove a run to the sun and headed down to Newquay in the Porsche. I loaded up a spare black coil and a CDI box and set off to Cornwall. We ended up extending our planned trip and did over 1,500 miles. The car didn't miss a beat the whole trip, 'never needed my spares.

We stayed in a little cottage that forms part of the sea wall in Porth. With the fine weather we've been having it was wonderful. Driving the green machine every day was great fun, we encountered many admirers and the car prompted much friendly discussion.
I also collected a note under the wipers asking to buy the car. It's happened before but it's always rather flattering.

All in all, a superb holiday enhanced by taking the early 911. They're not bad for 40 year old cars, are they?

One evening the nice sunset gave me a chance to get some salt into the deepest recesses of the arches. I had great fun tearing about on the sands... 8)

I live approx. 800 mtrs from where you stayed ! Hope you enjoyed your trip. In fact my avatar pic was taken in the same spot as your pic.

Great pics (as always).

For this shot, were you standing on Mrs Ferryman's shoulders?

Ad.

Well sometimes in a relationship it's tempting but we tend to get on alright on holiday....

No, just me holding the camera above my head. No marital abuse. :)

Glad to hear it and Mrs FM is right, as usual

No better place to be than Cornwall in the Spring sunshine....

Nice pics too, or has that been mentioned before??

Thanks Nigel. It's tricky shooting with the camera held above your head but I think I've done pretty well and kept the horizon level....

Do you contact them and say thanks but no thanks, just out of curiosity as to what they would actually offer for the car?

Yeah, I sent back a pleasant little email (and a couple of pics) with thanks but declining his interest. His was a lovely note, very complimentary and from a genuine enthusiast and not a profiteering dealer.
The offer came from a current 911 owner (I saw his SC in the same car park when I parked up) but I didn't talk money.
Maybe he knew the value, possibly not, it doesn't really matter because at the moment it's not for sale. Could be one day though, I'll keep him on file....

Yeah, good work. Must be that grid thingy on that Leica-Lookie-Leica, oh no, you'd need a flippy screen for that
