Re: Where can I see the main input shaft on a G50?

Ah, I wasn't aware that you had a new clutch only 25k miles ago. The main reason for the rubber damper was to cushion the backlash of the gear train at low rpm. G50 gears are seriously heavy duty and the firing pulses below 2000rpm can make the gearbox quite noisy, this is why manufacturers went to ...

Re: Lightweight valve spring retainers and hats?

FVD in Germany usually have titanium retainers in stock.
I have dealt with them for more than 20 years, always with
good results,

Re: Where can I see the main input shaft on a G50?

Hi Rob. To be able to see the input shaft you need to disconnect both driveshafts from the gearbox, Remove the drive shaft flanges, drain the gearbox oil and remove the gearbox side cover and the differential. This seems like an awful lot of work to check check the backlash in the input shaft. The G...

Wow!
That's fantastic Mark. I'm surprised that you've had time for work.

Thanks Angus and team.

I had a really good day and managed to sell some nice bits and pieces
to good homes.
I'm looking forward to the next meet up.

Cheers

Re: Amazing service for special parts

I purchased a pair of cams from Kent a few months ago, the same as Graham,
they had to grind them as they didn't have stock. They arrived less than a week
after the order went through.
They are highly recommended.

Re: Wiring loom 69t

Lee. You need to bear in mind that the 69 loom is one year only and has some plugs/sockets that are mounted to a bracket on the rear shock absorber crossmember, in the engine compartment. I enquired with Kroon years ago and they told me that I would need to supply them with those plugs/sockets so th...

Re: Removing old loctite case sealnt off engine part faces?

Porsche state in the workshop manuals that there is no need to remove the old 574 from engine cases because, as PeterK says, new sealer will soften the old sealer. I never trust this method but have found by smearing a small amount of new 574 on top of hard 574 and leaving it for a while that thinne...

Re: 3.2 911 engine: mods to give 7600 min red line?

Great news that Kent have come good.
I think, like with a lot of companies you need to be speaking to
a like minded individual who gets on board with what you need.
Sounds like the project is really taking shape now.

Goodwood Revival weekend ticket for sale

Unfortunately I can't make it to Goodwood for the Revival so I have one weekend
ticket, plus program voucher, available for £216 which is what it cost me.

Cheers.

Re: Carrera 3.2 G50 drivetrain slack

It sounds like the rubber damper (part of the clutch friction lining) has failed. When this happens there is a lot of drive train back lash and it feels like it's coming from the gearbox. To properly identify the problem the engine box & need to come out and the clutch pressure plate removed. Ho...

Re: PMO fuel injection questions:

Sounds like a good plan Graham. I think you have pretty good induction as it is, if a little more complicated to fine tune than EFI. Making it rev is the key, and keeping it together at those revs is critical and that is mainly the con rods job. Arrow or Carrillo would be my choice. Are you sticking...
