Re: Maddening Running Issue
If it helps to try, I ought to have a fully functioning MFI lift pump that you could borrow available in a couple of weeks' time. It is from our 2.4S and has been happily supplying the 3.2 short stroke MFI engine in our hillclimb car. At least it would confirm or rule out the pump. Cheers JW JW tha...

Good shout - thanks.Bruce M wrote:Squirt a little brake cleaner into the air intake & see if that stops the hunting. The car will run on the brake cleaner when the fuel drops out, but if it’s a spark problem this will not act as a temporary fix.

Re: Maddening Running Issue
That hunting is weird .. so that was at part throttle ? All 6 cylinders effected which does point to something pre the MFI pump if fuel related Thanks James. Yes, part, half, full, makes no odds. Re: Maddening Running Issue
The hunting is probably because the pressure isn’t enough to open the injectors, until the pump builds enough pressure then they open & pressure drops until they shut, then repeat. Agreed. The question is therefore whether this is because of a dodgy pressure control valve or dodgy electric fuel...

Re: Maddening Running Issue
Thanks Andy, from what I have read on Pelican it appears the consensus is that 11.8 PSI +/- 3 is spec so 8.8-14.8 is within spec so I would be at the bottom of that range but still should be ok. I haven’t checked flow yet so maybe that’s the best next step? Or maybe just bite the bullet and get a ne...

Re: Maddening Running Issue
Hello again - to update: Got the pressure gauge and installed today. Ran pump and it was showing 12psi solid on first try and of course then she fired up without much trouble. See here: https://youtu.be/YlsVygWm-Xc?si=y9tDeSbuKtyiHGPY So after checking for any fuel leaks warmed it up and went round ...

knapmann, this sounds like a good first option. do you have a link to the gauge you installed please?

Re: Maddening Running Issue
Rob, thanks. Re "turning fully off between starts" - it doesn't fully start - i'm having to crank it over in the video. It hasn't been an abrupt fault - seems intermittent. When the car was running fine after re-built it did exactly as per the video one night after a fairmile meet, althoug...
