Re: Gear stick lock key missing
I have had a lock and key sitting in a draw for two years. Waiting to take it to a locksmith and get it cut. When I lived in London my mate took his Alfa Duetto glovebox lock to a local locksmith who supplied a key and cut it to the lock. I was going to do the same, just haven't got my act together ...

I think I have one but not too sure if it works. I bought it to replace the plastic bit and never did. I'll hunt it out..

Re: Engine out - Cluch in
Thanks for the help guys. I was contemplating going over from the 'wrong' side of the transmission to get to it, so you have confirmed this. I did notice that there was some orange balloon type rubber on the bolt neck that kept it in place. I assumed it was for this reason. I stupidly didn't push it...

Re: Engine out - Cluch in
AAAAAAAGH!!! Everything back together and engine in - well almost! Three bolts and nuts OK then it comes to the top bolt above the starter motor. HOW IN THE HELL do you get to that? Do I have to take the starter motor out? Doesn't look like an easy job. and I live by the motto - if it 'aint broke do...

Re: Insurance Valuation
Get well soon Bootsy. Tried to increase the valuation on mt T6B I know its the lowliest model but Flux wouldn't increase it above 30K, Saying that's what they go for? Mine is not a rust bucket and I would say it's a very good condition 2. Where can I get one for 30K? 'cos I fancy another at that pri...

Re: Engine out - Cluch in
Well clutch in. Just a quick question. should there be any torque settings for the bolts on the clutch cover or just as tight as I can get them? Can't find any reference to in Workshop manual or Harry Pellow books. Flywheel isn't rusty just the photo making orange more orangy! http://img.photobucket...

Re: Engine out - Cluch in
Thanks guys. That's the type of info I was after. Don't want to mess with shims and making things fit as that just leads to more problems down the line in my experience. Just want to get it sorted and do a good job.
Thanks again guys

Re: Engine out - Cluch in
Thanks, That's what I was after. will a VW one fit and work OK? Prices are looking like £550 - £880 for what I'm after! That seems a lot for a basic clutch to me. (but not if it's unique to just a small batch of 356's) The dreaded Porsche tag seems to upping the price if it's the same as a VW one. J...

Re: Engine out - Cluch in
"Are your over riders upside down?" Good spot! yes. They are actually front ones turned upside down Carrera style. I have a sports exhaust and was going for the Carrera look with a skirt. Rather than have two overriders with holes and an exhaust. But the engine is sitting a bit low due to ...

Re: Rear brake problems
Pictures, pictures, pictures. Someone might be able to see what you are having problems with rather than imagining it. If you can do it, it's sometimes hard to see how people can get it wrong. I'm building an A35 race car and the PO had installed the complete rear brakes upside down. I didn't notice...
