Re: Tyres

I would think it is impossible to say if they are good or not based on the limited info provided. Think about their age, condition, how and where they have been stored, what sort of life they have lived. Has the rubber gone hard, are the tyre walls cracked, have they been left flat with the vehicle ...

Re: 72 2.4S heater issues

the heat exchanger flaps should be closed, assuming you mean the flaps that attach to the orange hoses at the rear.of the chassis rails. This stop the hot air getting into the sill pipes and thus the car... or maybe i didnt read your question right

Re: my non-Porsche picture of the day

As a kid, mum and dad had a 1.6 Lazer, then a 2.0S (in the same green as the original photo above) and finally a 2.8 injection. I only got to drive the 2.8 as i wasnt old enough when they had the others. Fantastic car, tons of power, smooth delivery and that oh so long bonnet.....

Re: Accelerator pedal fail

thats the one or should i say thats the three. unfortunately you will need to remove the hot air panel at the rear of the tunnel and the handbrake i think to get to the middle 1. The front one is accessible via the hole at the front of the tunnel and obviously needs the carpet lifting. If i were you...

Re: Accelerator pedal fail

They are small plastic bobbins that are held into the transmission tunnel by metal tabs. As simon says, 3 of them. See the diagram from Richard's excellent Safety Colours website, they are item 30. https://www.safetycolours.com/porsche-911s-1970-restoration/2019/3/6/teleflex-cables They are a bit of...

Re: Under-bonnet colour question

Here are a couple of photos from my car when it was stripped down prior to restoration Heavy black oversprayed onto body colour at the front and sides https://i.postimg.cc/rFwQw5YS/IMG-3155.jpg Fading back to body colour (unfinished, i.e. not thick or polished body colour) at the back and under the ...

Re: oil pressure

Mr Bardsley wins the prize!! i literally just took off the air box and saw that the wire had come off the sensor! Easiest fix i will ever have i suspect - i crimped the connector a little to make it a tighter fit. Supplementary question, there is a small flexi drain tube that drops out of the bottom...

Re: Under-bonnet colour question

my 72 was body colour in both engine and luggage bays with a light overspray of black in the engine room and a more solid matt black coat in the luggage compartment fading out to body colour under the dash.

my favourite are traffic lights rewired for indoor use. You can get them on ebay for £50-100, at a physical auction they seem to sell for £300+

Re: Accelerator pedal fail

Apparently later socket ends on the linkage have some pin that prevents the ball and socket linkage falling apart. The reason i know this is mine fell apart on the way to a Goodwood breakfast a couple of months ago - i pushed it back together and spent the rest of the trip worrying it might come apa...

oil pressure

when i switch the ignition on, the gauge goes to max oil pressure without me even starting the engine. i have read it could be 1. A faulty relief valve 2. Poor earth on the gauge 3. A clogged oil filter Given the gauge worked fine a couple of weeks ago and the filter is new - less than 500 miles, ho...
