Re: Spare junk M-caliper long bolts/nuts anybody?

Classicar Automotive were very helpful, but were waiting for stock of the same size bolts. He kindly gave me his supplier contact Thomas Smith Fasteners in Wigan, who are looking into it. The 65 mm thread is not available, the next one up is 70 mm thread. Fingers crossed. Would still like a set of o...

Re: This is one very confused Porsche.

Hard to believe that someone would do such a thing, and harder still to imagine that someone might buy it to use it. A parts car?

That's very kind of you - I'll shout if I need. I was meant to call them today... but still hoping that someone might have some originals knocking around....

Re: Spare junk M-caliper long bolts/nuts anybody?

Thanks for the Classicar Automotive tip - pity they haven't included their contact details on their website, at least that I can see, though I found their tel number elsewhere easy enough.

Spare junk M-caliper long bolts/nuts anybody?

Stupidly, to sort out a stuck piston, I decided to split one of my rear calipers. This resulted in chopping out a pair of the socket-cap bolts that hold the two sides of the caliper together. To be fair, they did have rounded off Allen key sockets, which is why I 'had to' chop them out! Yes, I...

More than helpful, thank you!

Will get some pads ordered....

Any possibility of getting your wife to come and help me then? I'm sure we are only round the corner from each other

Re: Caliper condition opinions

Now that the caliper is rebuilt (still minus two bolts, a 65 and a 70 mm, to hold the caliper together -can anyone help with these?), and new brake pipe section has arrived from D911, its time to put it back on the car and get the brakes bled and working again (with a new master cylinder). I've neve...

Re: what are these MFI pump bracket holes used for?

Thanks for your thoughts.

The holes are on the side, so most likely not drain holes, and the holes are definitely not big enough for the Jubilee clips (about 7 mm dia).

I suspect that the holes might not have been used. Hopefully, someone might recall for certain.. :compress:

what are these MFI pump bracket holes used for?

I'm just getting ready to re-install my rear cradle mounted MFI fuel pump. Anyone know if the two holes on the side of the narrow bracket shown as #3 in the pic are for please, or unused? I vaguely recall there being a rather rusty banjo, or two?, trying to hold the fuel pump to the narrow bracket.....

Re: Caliper condition opinions

yes, rotation angle of piston I saw that some seal kits and piston+seal kits have some kind of steel shim, but I didn't know at the time what it was for, and my calipers never had them fitted. Yes, Haynes manual was on-hand too. All makes sense, once you know how  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/28...

Re: 914 : Road Trip to Italy

Cool, I'm curious about your route and final destination too, and look forward to seeing some pics hopefully. Me and the family got back from a road trip to Rome and back recently, via Switzerland and Gottard pass... much fun, and expense! Didn't need the reflective vests per passenger, or the spare...

Re: Caliper condition opinions

Another pic, shows the piston angle more clearly (marked in red) in relation to the brake pipe connection and caliper mounts... this is the rear right caliper.
