Re: Under cover Resto
Sorry, should have looked back. Check the weight difference and if there’s much difference, careful grind away judiciously.

Re: Under cover Resto
JE forged pistons - get ready for the sweet sound of piston slap when cold... Not a problem just a little disconcerting to begin with! :) Why bother. Who needs extra noise for no benefit. They didn’t have forged pistons when new so why now. I bought two sets of AA pistons 1720 kits for my engines, ...

Re: Distributor refurbishment
I’ve got them on my 356c and my Healey 3000 and my son just fitted one to a prewar Traction, mainly because the Rolling road he uses and I believe does Nick Masons cars, recommends them.

Re: Winterburn cdi
Electronic ignition will only ever give as good performance as a perfect distributor and coil set up. Points seem to be short lived these days and condensers unreliable, so replacing them is a good plan. However the main bearing in the distributor and the automatic timing device also wear and cause ...

Re: JP Classic Line - Solex style 40 PII-4
Those holes turned out to make no difference but once the float heights were correct and I’d fitted 0.060 pilots and 120 mains, I found mine a significant improvement over the Zeniths. The car is torquier, faster, ticks over more reliably and best of all, it’s starts regardless of how long it is lef...

Re: The house where Jenks grew up
Jerks was a sidecar passenger to Eric Oliver when he won a World Championship before his car days and I used to meet him at Mallory Park’s VMCC vintage race of the year in the seventies. Stan Woods and lots of others used to be there then. It was a great day out. In those days I had an ex Tyrell Smi...

I read that it was a Porsche Taycan that started the fire. Another from a previous batch burnt up in California and was mentioned as well and that there were software issues too.

Re: Hankering after a 356 Help Needed
I don’t think an A is what most will opt for. They aren’t as nice to drive, they’re slow, looks are subjective and there’s quite a big price difference between it and later models. Most common is the B and for a bit more you can get a C. I’d say an A is most likely the choice of collectors and not s...
