Will - I don't think those Webers would be much use to Peter as they're twin-choke IDA's for a 4-cylinder engine...

In recent years I've used Eurocar Parts - fit well, don't leak & reasonably price.

Basically the 912 engine was the final development of the 356 engine - virtually the same as the 356 C.

The 914 engine is totally different - essentially it's a VW type IV originally from the VW 411.

Hi Sigi - lovely looking car!!

There was only one standard shade of orange available for 1969 - Tangerine (code 6809 sometimes known as Blood orange or Blut orange as Bootsy stated above). The paint code can be found on a plate on the left side door hinge panel (viewable when you open the door).

Looks like a neat installation.

Just one question - were the rear inertia reels mounted horizontally in the 993 ? ie are they designed to work horizontally ?

The picture's for real - the car was a '99 F1 model (F399) owned/driven by Fritz Kroymans the Dutch Ferrari importer. Here are some quotes from people who were at the Monterey Historics (courtesy of Pelican BBS): "The crash looked like the classic rookie mistake - too much speed out of the corn...

Nick - I think Tim was looking for methods that he could try at home without further dismantling.

Tim - drilling out the broken studs 'in situ' is awkward but not impossible. I've done it successfully a number of times. The key to success - or at least one of the main criteria - is to have high quality drill bits. I used 3 progressively larger bits - from memory 4, 6 & 8mm. Start off by cent...

Are you talking about the 'concertina' rubber that fits round the filler neck on the underside of the front wing ? If so, its job is to prevent the filler pipe from contacting the sides of the hole in the wing through which it passes (by centralising/isolating it) - it does not come into contact wit...

The original reason that Webers were fitted was to eliminate the 'flat-spots' that plagued the Solex-fed cars. When Porsche went over to using Zenith 40TIN carbs instead of Webers for the 2.2 911T models, it was essentially a cost-cutting exercise. The advantage that Webers have over both the Solex ...

You could try giving Jim Avis a call on 01293 851449.

He used to race a 1965 or 66 911 in FIA events & may be able to offer some suggestions.

You can use any of the 3 versions of Weber carburettor (with appropriate jetting) to replace your Solexes. Porsche originally used the IDA's to replace the Solexes for the 'S' models in early 1966 (the Webers were used on several Italian cars including the Lancia Aurelia V6's). IDT's were a modified...
