Bob Watson is your man, I took my Saigon car there for a final rolling road check pre-departure. Just the ticket!

If you decide to stay with an original switch, I have one. I always keep at least a couple in the workshop - Definitely a reasonably common fault

1968 LHD 912 Targa

Ex-California '68 LHD 912 Targa fitted with the wrong engine. Currently powered by a rebuilt 1600 VW engine with twin Solex 40 carbs. A very pretty little car, great body and panelwork. Two genuine 15" Fuchs at the front, repro 7R's at the rear. Good 901 5-speed gearbox. Runs and drives well, T...

I saw a 912 engine for sale on there a few weeks ago. Emailed the seller for more info, he went on to explain that he'd literally just been relocated from London to very northern Scotland....and that he'd taken the engine with him....of course he could always freight it down on a pallet if I sent hi...

Hi Peter,

The advance curve of the 009 is incorrect for the 912 engine - It can be used in a 912 engine, but its definitely not ideal.

A better option is a Bosch 050, an original equipment 022 or an RSR0012.

Regards,

Max

Hmmmm well, I very nearly had the car shipped from Saigon to LA. The plan being to drive across the States early next year to complete a full around the world by 912 effort - But it was too short notice to arrange. So...Its looking like a London to Saigon via Africa in a Rockwell Commander instead :...

Cheers Gavin - Thanks again for you help and support along the way, superb 8) Hi Steve - I always had Vietnam in mind, always reckoned it to be a suitably ridiculous place to try and get to in a 912. From there I just worked out a route using an atlas, took a while to figure out a workable route tho...

The Pan American highway would be awesome. Funnily enough we met a Brazillian guy in Laos who said exactly the same thing - Go for it! 8)

Cheers :) Looks like we've raised around £3,500 so far. Although we still have some more to add from collection boxes and small fundraising events held whilst we were away. Hopefully the total will also go up again once our articles appear in Christophorus and C&SC magazine etc.. Would be great ...
