Cibie Pallas - my most sheepish question ever?

Hi all I've recently purchased a pair of these (Eric Linden's) reproduction, which should be close to 100% original. I'm struggling to open these up - I'm being very cautious as they're expensive and relatively fragile..... What is the technique and what is it that I'm obviously missing  Many t...

Re: FS: set of 2 Cibié hood rally lights

Hi Vasco

Can you believe it (f****ing South African Post Office.....they've been on strike with 28 million item backlog) I've just received these - they're packaged well and as stated truly in perfect, unused condition!

Very happy - thank you once again!

Cheers

Re: Rear wheel bearing - manufacturer Reference

Hi Chris

Once again you've taught me (us?) something very useful! Thank you!

I've game for experimenting - the BMW bearing kit (Made by SKF) has been ordered. Total cost (here in South Africa) about 35 quid versus 200 from Porsche….

It's been worth asking the question!

Thanks again

Re: Rear wheel bearing - manufacturer Reference

Bingo Bruce! I was just trying to work out why I had two piccies of the FAG bearing - interestingly one made on Brazil and the other in Slovakia, but with totally different numbers! I'll exercise caution, and if unsure but from a specialist. This "keep the mystery" thing to avoid customers...

Re: Rear wheel bearing - manufacturer Reference

Thanks Gents I have searched and nothing specifically relevant to the rear bearings (of admittedly an impact bumper car, although mine is a pre-impact - so again, playing with a Frankenstein car is fraught with...... confusion for an amateur.....). I guess the "ideal" was finding a databas...

Rear wheel bearing - manufacturer Reference

Hi All I've come across the "bearing mystery" again - I had this with gearbox bearings previously and now when planning my alloy banana arm swap and trying to buy parts in anticipation. I'm looking for rear wheel bearings suitable for an impact bumper car (but not a turbo or wide body). Sh...

Re: Lightweight battery - what have you used as a "holder"

Hi & thanks all Yes its a RHD and I'd like to beep the battery in the offside battery box (as opposed to smugglers box - less changes to wiring, easier to convert back etc.). Given my requirement I don't think there is an "off the shelf" solution - I'll make a bespoke holder, prototype...

Lightweight battery - what have you used as a "holder"

Hi All I've just installed an Odyssey PC680 battery within the offside battery box in my "sport purpose" hot rod (1972 car, 3.2L engine, hi-torque starter FWIW). This has yielded a weight saving of about 16kg (35Lbs) which is very worthwhile. Yes.....I am a little circumspect that this has...

Re: Backdate/Hot Rod - Speedometer Question

Thanks Bootsy I'm not 100% sure I understand your replies, specifically the pictures (which is exactly how mine looks presently). I have the more modern looking speedometer (electronic version) currently installed (as I have a later 1985 transmission in the 1972 car). My guess is that I need this ex...

Backdate/Hot Rod - Speedometer Question

Morning all My 1972 car has 3.2L engine and corresponding 915 box from a 1985 car. I'm afraid I've gotten to the stage where the more "modern" electronically driven speedometer, set in an otherwise 1972 sea of silver dot original instruments, is offending me...… Is there a sensible or wide...

Re: I don't care, really I don't

This stuff we do isn't for the feint hearted you know! Notwithstanding that we get charged exorbitant prices for services, upgrades and spare parts, we suffer worse as we get looked at like we're a withered tit sometimes...…

But really they all love us :bom:

Re: Owner's Manuals - Replacement Source

Hi Reggie Thank you - I now have what I need. Hi Robin - please let me have your confirmed dates when you know. I will quite probably be out of town (but likely to be back on 8th so we will hopefully cross over), however I'll do my very best to hook you up some fellow Porsche enthusiasts and will ca...
