Best advice: 1) Leave old car at home and take a modern. :) No sense of adventure left on a Monday morning then KS? Load it on behind your Classic Camper and have twice the fun............... http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn99/jwhillracer/CricketStThomas914Camper.jpg With this combination, if ...

If you need a hand over the w/e, give me a shout. The girls are off at Guide camp, so there's just the 2 boys left here - me and Jim, the other "classic racer"!

Cibie Biodes! The works rally 911's used them. I had a set that I bought for my rally beetle (complete with 356B Super 75engine!) in 1971/72. http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn99/jwhillracer/5674VZ.jpg They then went into my 914, and my 1969 2 litre S, until I missed the gate at Wiscombe Park in ...

I've had the same pressurised tensioners on my hillclimb 911 since 1987 with no problems other than a cracked feed pipe in the first couple of months. (Writing this holding very tight to my wooden desk....................)

Good to see you're still easily distracted, KS. Be careful, or I'll come down and bum another cup of coffee and waste another 4 hours for you!

Yes - I've got 195/70 x 14 on my 914/6 with no problems except the speedo reads 10% high, so it will read even higher with 195/65's.

HD SAE30 oil, just as per the handbook. Still nothing to beat it on early air-cooled engines!

It is by the number - it should be a 1969 (long wheelbase) 911T Targa

68 and 69 model years chassis no should be 8 figure nos starting with 118 and 119 respectively. Earlier cars are 6 figure starting from 300001 for coupe and 500001 for Targa.

So how many present 914 owners come from Nothern Ireland, then? As far as I know, Isaac Agnew only sold one, Yellow of course, reg something like FOI 1010. My brother owned it for a while a few years ago. I'm originally from Dunadry, and the "other half" is from Holywood!

I know the problem! I went from a 914/4 which did over 30 on a run to a 1969 2litre 911S on mechanical injection, which never did 20 mpg, even on a run to Aberdeen! Luckily petrol wasn't quite as expensive in 1980 as now! My hillclimb 911 when I last drove it on the road would use a full tank to do ...
