Well done on posting that ! I have never never lost the easy gear change on my 'A' its just the same as when I bought it in the 60's! My late 356A has the 716 gearbox I wonder if they changed that from the previous earlier model? Of course over the years I have had the inspection cover on the tunnel...

Interesting thread, Yes its good to get history on a car you own! My 59A cost me £440 back in 1969 very similar in price to yours! I expect it was in good condition for a 356A as mine was back then 54 years ago. I also have been lucky in getting so much history from its owners in its first 10 years....

Greg, You could have had better luck than that with the clutch. You didn't advise the symptoms but will you be putting a 356A flywheel on and tell me will a late style diaphragm version be fitted to suit the 356 B release bearing set up you have? Guess there is no difference between the A-C flywheel...

Thanks Greg for advising you had the flywheel machined out shows you were really getting that job correct. Yes its all the small things that can take the time. Bet you can't wait to hear it start up!

Gregg, Well done on the work and your effort. Just a question, my 59 car had the early diaphragm clutch from Hausermann I seem to remember still fitted in it, when I bought the car in the 60's. What a disaster that clutch was, the previous owner had it adjusted so many times at AFN and after I start...

Gregg, Great work and of course those Bezels are rare! You are correct as well the material they made them from is crap. Mine were bubbly when I bought the car in the 60's and they still are, no rust of course just bubbly. Does annoy me but that is how they will stay. It would be nice to put the car...
