Re: 1987 3.2 Carrera Backdate project - Sladeys hotrod
I just caught up with this, read the last 8 pages or so. I was glad to read when the noid light had been utilized; very useful information. I went through an similarity dispiriting diagnostic process with my erstwhile 87 924S with the same Motronic (but no Camens), a story for another time (or not ...

Re: 1987 3.2 Carrera Backdate project - Sladeys hotrod
Isn't the number one cause of laid up 3.2 non-starts gummed up injectors? Could it be that the Canems unit pulse width isn't wide enough to open the blocked injector, whereas holding the injector to ground does? I realise you tested this with the noid LED, but I would revisit that. Hi Jonny It’s ha...

Re: 1987 3.2 Carrera Backdate project - Sladeys hotrod
If you can establish serial comms with the ECU the microcontroller “brain” is not 100% fried. It may have lost the two output channels used for the injection pulses but perhaps just the high current semiconductors that amplify the microcontroller output. It should be repairable, in that situation. ...

Re: 1987 3.2 Carrera Backdate project - Sladeys hotrod
Yes that’s what I’m hoping - I mean it was functioning well when I logged into it so hopefully if there is any damage it won’t be too much - at the moment it’s more a question of how quickly they could do anything

Re: 1987 3.2 Carrera Backdate project - Sladeys hotrod
OK the AA man has been and just confirmed that we’ve done everything we can and agreed that it’s pointing at the ECU in some form. We sprayed carb cleaner down the air intake and it fired up (not great but it fired) Discussed everything we’d done and he came to the same conclusion. He looked at the ...

1987 3.2 Carrera Backdate project - Sladeys hotrod
But I got this from Pelican:- 1. If you have spark and all that is missing is the fuel your sensors are good. Period. 2. The injectors need permanent +12V on one side and the pulse (GND) from the DME on the other and fuel pressure of course. Currently expecting the AA any minute - will write again o...

1987 3.2 Carrera Backdate project - Sladeys hotrod
OK so it’s not gone well…. But we think we’ve narrowed it down. Nige came round (thank a million Nige) and we spent all morning on it OK so - Fuel is fine - pouring out - while cranking Spark is fine However connecting a noid bulb across the injector socket gives no light at all while cranking - it ...

Re: 1987 3.2 Carrera Backdate project - Sladeys hotrod
Thanks for all those comments and links guys I dont know what the immobiliser immobilises. My system uses the original crank sensors and neither have been touched throughout the recent work. Those posts are interesting. The cylinder head sensor one was surprising. I’ve read up on using loctite on ea...
