Re: Using a snap-on timing light

What distributor are you using?

I have a spare Bosch 0 231 169 009 - JFUD 6 which looks almost new you are welcome to borrow whilst you pull yours apart if you want?

Re: Tyre sizing?

The middle number is the percentage of the aspect ration of the tyre height, so 185 ’55’ means the height of the tyre is 55% the width of 185mm

185 ’70’ means the height of the tyre is 70% of the width.

So basically the 70 has a taller sidewall height than the 55, so will fill the wheel arch more.

Re: my non-Porsche picture of the day

The two front cars are Talbot Sunbeam Lotus. KKV 394 was Russel Brookes 1981 RAC car, so the picture is probably around that period.
From the flag, the Ulster Rally or Circuit of Ireland about the same time, British Open Rally Championship rounds, think MINTEX were sponsoring it back then?

Re: Clutch Problems

The clutch is stuck on, you need to start it in gear - make sure nothing is around, and drive it around a field or somewhere safe for it to warm up and disengage. Basically you are trying to engage a gear at the moment and the clutch is not moving and engaging. Failing that, although I have never tr...

Re: What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?

Put wheel stops in my garage to prevent me hitting the worktop. Took the 914 for a drive and heard a noise from the rear left wheel. Checked and the calipers are much to tight on the disc. I tried to adjust and fail. Loosing the outer adjustment bolt didn't move the pads at all. Goodness knows how ...
