Re: Time for the Solex's to Go

Have I missed the thread where you tell why the Solex have to go ? I have ongoing dramas with two sets of Solex's but am hoping not to be beaten. Previous posts are below. I really didnt want to swap out the solex carbs but a combination of the ongoing issues after having them "Fully Refurbish...

Re: Fuchs Replicas

Thanks Mike, that would be useful. However it will probably make me drool when I feel how light they are versus the cast repros. I might pop down this weekend if it suits. Helga is into Seditas in Ayr on Friday to have the new Webers tuned (see other thread). Did I see in another post that you had ...

Re: Time for the Solex's to Go

I have webber idf 40 on my 912 and had to recently replace the left hand carb. This was done via webcon and Chris Turner. I have blocks/spacer between the intake and carb in my setup. In your photo you just seem to have a thick rubber gasket? Are these the blocks you are taking about? I will try to...

Re: Fuchs Replicas

Just be cautious when considering anodising cast aluminium, I know some places won't touch cast as it either doesn't take well or colours can not be guaranteed, I have seen clear come come out very milky. Cheers.Nick. Thanks Nick I went to see an Anodising company today and got the same vibe. What ...

Re: Time for the Solex's to Go

Hi Mike. I' m a bit hacked off that the blocks were not included as the Webers were part of a full conversion kit specific to a 912. On querying this, the suppliers response was that they would be better fitted. The phenolic blocks for the Solex's don't fit the Weber Manifolds as the new inlet manif...

Re: Time for the Solex's to Go

Hi Slipside I have never seen the replica Knechts to fit the Webers. One way to achieve the Knecht filters on the Webers is shown in the photos. http://i1100.photobucket.com/albums/g403/KnoxCycleWorks/image_zps118c5118.jpg <a href="http://s1100.photobucket.com/user/KnoxCycleWorks/media/image_zp...

Re: Fuchs Replicas

Hi Nick. Perhaps incorrectly, I assumed that Anodising would be pretty expensive. Additionally, I'm not sure there are any Anodising facilities locally, we are not blessed with as many facilities as down south. I have access to paint and powder coating suppliers and facilities at little or no cost s...

Fuchs Replicas

At the risk of committing Heresy and being on stand by to take the criticism from the purists, I am posting my thoughts on how I can get the period correct appearance of 4 1/2" Fuchs on my 67 912 without breaking the bank. Now I know that the Fuchs were only available on the 911S in 67 and woul...
