Very Rare 914 Alloys

Hi all, A toe-dip-in-the-water here. I have a set of four Enkei Mesh 92 alloys in the garage with four original centre caps. If you do a google image, you will see plenty of examples but they are very rare in 4 stud VW/914 size (ie 15"x5.5" with 20 offset, correct stud pattern). They were ...

Oil would be my first call but I guess the price situation may have changed since I last looked into it. However, on the electric side. Ballpark, electricity is four times the cost of Gas (on a kw style basis). So direct heating of radiators/water is expensive. Ground pumps effectively move the heat...

You need to use heat or you risk snapping the stud!! There are a few options such as, heat up the area with a blow torch then using the two nut method, first tighten slightly then losen the stud. If that doesn't work reheat then hit the stud with a freezer spray (or wd40 at a push). This should crac...

Stefan Roser in Yellowbird

Recently found the full 20 mins of video online. It is the usual low res stuff but totally wild to watch. go to the new google video search engine www.video.google.com and search for yellowbird. It should be the first one on the list. The bit where he is throwing the wheel left and right at the end ...

Where to source early gearbox parts?

Hi all, I'm in need of a small gearbox part for an early 901/914 box. Its the push action clutch version. I need the small clutch arm retaining piece that holds the arm on its pivot point. Any ideas where to get one in the UK. I know Pelican Parts sells them for about $5 but I'd rather get it here. ...

If your setting up multi barrel carbs buy or borrow a proper air flow guage. This is the 'snail' type not the unisync type. It makes the idle screw and linkage set up very easy and saves hours. Forget the idea of a piece of tubing and your ear (very nasy when the carb spits back!) One of my favourat...

Smoothrite chips real easy, avoid it where there is impact from stones etc.

POR15 is good on previously rusty areas but because it's really thin it doesn't cover well on new steel.

Jenolite Repaint (I think thats the name) is better for exposed new steel areas.

to clarify (from a vague memory). The cold start injector, only runs for a brief time (ten seconds or so). a termocouple on the block cuts it out after that (using the small internal heater or a hot engine to open the bimetalic contacts) . The warm up device reduces the fuel pressure on the top of t...
