Well done! I’ve been through some challenges with custom crank / cam triggers so I know how frustrating that can be!

Re: KS's hillclimbing odyssey
There’s a few others I’ve seen on socials. klaus for example with his extra cooling channel underneath. Walter (NL) has a 3 valve OHC prototype too. None very cheap!

Not particularly easy on a type4 head.
They have very limited capacity for fly cutting the cylinder register on the head. Instead you need to weld up the combustion chamber & rework it… or buy billet heads (££££)

Have one of these.
Mark the orientation of the camera on the outside with a bit of tape or something. It’s easy to get completely confused given the worm’s-eye view!
The LED light & focal length can be quite short too.

Re: 4 bolt cv joint
You’d need an expert to confirm but I assume you can replace a -71 108x40 CV with the turbo version
Lobro turbo CVs are about £80 each

Thanks everyone for your comments Jonny what are the pizza flaps? Also not sure what you mean by cotton reel Other than that I’m favouring the rear arch mounting - other than the space issue, even with the arch liner in place it has a bigger opening to the air than the front horn grill Google “cott...

I’d take the heads but would need them posted, if that’s possible.

You’re not wrong. For some reason HT M7 bolts are going for daft prices on eBay. £10 each or more.
Crazy.
They’ll be sitting on the shelf in lots of places but just a case of finding where

Just use hex socket head bolts for now as a temporary fix and look out for a 2nd hand caliper?

Re: First car ideas and advice please
My wife’s niece had an Audi A1 in her teens. There seems to be loads available, if the reliability & insurance stacks up? Should have enough “cred” for a fussy teen. My brother bought & lightly restored a Mk2 golf for his 17yo. To slow to get himself into trouble was the theory. Not sure I’l...

Re: First car ideas and advice please
Had a few Minis. R56 Cooper 1.6 (120bhp) wasn’t bad & owned for a decent mileage without problems. Nippy so insurance might be nasty. Also had a ‘18 Mini 1499GT (1.5l “one” engine with black paint & full JCW interior). That was a bit gutless but probably better on the insurance. Now have coo...
