Re: My old Speedster Rep

I think the lack of bumpers don't work, along with the fogs. Makes it actually look more like a kit car, that someone has thrown all the outlaw repro stuff onto.

Top dollar too, mmmmmm.

Re: 911 Fuchs wheels 16"

Rob you're thinking about 15" flat/deep.

There is only one style/offset of 6x16 Fuch, as found on the front of most Impact Bumper models.

Re: Towing with DSG VW auto?

Why would you want a manual these days in anything other than sporty little number. I like to sit back relax and let my big fat, diesel A7s auto do all the work.

Modern autos are miles ahead of what they use to be.

Isn't Cif, Jiff, etc abrasive? Not sure I'd want to scrub my glass with that.

Re: Witches brews for cleaning inside of screens?

I've tried all sorts, though just ordered some isopropyl alcohol based on the suggestions here. Cleaning the glass in 911 is not problematic and lasts well. I find it more noticeable in the rest of our family fleet or newer vehicles. Initially the glass cleans very well, no smears or hazing. Then th...

Re: Carrera 3.2 continued emissions / idle misery...

Where is the 02 sensor on a 3.2? Mine has definitely never had one, its an 88 also, is yours a US car?

Mine usually needs a bit of MOT trickery to get the emission correct. More so these days as it's getting on a bit.

Re: opinions about chopping off heat exchangers

Angle grinder, reciprocating saw and dremel, I would have thought cutting debris wouldn't be a problem. You could always rotate the crank like you are doing the valve clearances to ensure the exhaust port you are working on is closed.

Re: opinions about chopping off heat exchangers

Yep, if you plan to bin em, cut the hell out of them.

Once off you can see the state of the studs. You mind still need to renew some as they can go a bit like brittle twiglet where they pass through the flange of the heat exchanger.
