Preparing for rust removal
More answers please..... Now that I have completed its nut & bolt, ground up restoration (in Guards Red  ), I have sold my Lotus Plus 2 http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd89/vfrpeter/Zetec%20Lotus%20Plus%202/Front.jpg ....... I finally have the space to start work on restoring my SC :boun...

Re: My engine won't come out
It's come out partly for curing of the Exxon Valdiz effect, and partly for some bodywork. The oil leaks appear to be coming from the usual oil switch & breather pipe housing gasket area. While it's out I'm doing the value clearances, f&r crank seals, oil cooler seals, etc and I'll check the ...

Re: My engine won't come out
At last :bounce: http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd89/vfrpeter/911SC/P1020894.jpg What a lovely sight ! Well it did take some time. By using several extensions bars and my impact driver, I managed to get 8 of the 12 CV bolts out. The last 4 took an age with the hammer and chisel, but eventually t...

Re: My engine won't come out
Thanks again guys, I'm trying again hopefully Friday.
I have 12 point, torx and allen heads waiting & ready (& yes, I always 'hammer' them in as far as they will go). I will not be beaten - the only unknowns are how long it will take and how much blood I lose in the effort

Thanks all
Busy for the moment, but planning to be back on it next Friday, and lots of things to try.

Re: My engine won't come out
No worries Sladey - in my despair I did actually try Torx 'cos I couldn't believe that all of the heads had been rounded, but no joy. Ian - I'll tried Mole grips, but they just slipped. I'l try small Stillsons, but not hopefull. If the gentle soul has managed to round the hex head sockets, then I'm ...

Re: My engine won't come out
Thanks for all of the suggestions folks. I like obvious - obvious is normally the culprit. I have no aux air pump, but the clutch mini lever and little spring, plus circlip and longer lever with monster round spring are removed, but not the starter motor, where I've just disconnected the cables - is...

Re: My engine won't come out
It seems that one of the previous owners, or their local 'expert' was a gentle soul. It took a 3foot long bar to get enough leverage to undo the sump plug from the oil tank , so I'm not too surprised that allen socket headed bolts are less than perfect.

Re: My engine won't come out
I wanted to remove engine & box, but as I can't get the CV bolts out (all rounded off), I'm now trying to separate the engine and gearbox to remove the engine on it's own first. That's where I'm stuck

My engine won't come out
Well, I followed the Bentley bible to remove engine and box from my 1979 SC intending to cure the Torrey Canyon effect from the top of the engine (and as part of my forthcoming sills, b-posts, kidneys & general respray and targa seals exercise). Had a major pig getting the small grub screw out o...

Re: Various 911 1969-73 parts plus SC engine parts
Interested in the right hand side hot air socket (if I'm correct that this is the part to delete the rear compartment blower) & the CIS fuel filter.
