Re: Another new member, but long term 73T owner

Hi Gary, thanks for your tips... I did the levering against the scuttle, and its kind of OK, but I think I have found a better way. - with the hood up and supported, I disconnect the shock on one side, loosen the hinge mounting bolts til its free to move around, push the mounting bracket down and ba...

Re: Help on OEM fron wing fitting & fettling

By the time we have all finished, we'll all be experts. Unless, of course, we give the job to an existing expert. In which case, we will never learn !! I am on the verge of leaving this fettling to an expert, and wish I had a mate like that - my mates can only use a keyboard, useless t***s :) All ad...

Help on OEM fron wing fitting & fettling

Hi guys, you might have seen the start of my 25 year restoration just posted. I need some help please ideally from those of you with lots of experience of fitting wings, or insight - I am really stuck on getting good gaps at the door ends of my new OEM front wings. I have gaps of about 9 mm on the l...

Re: Underseal Removal

Chisel blunted at the corners and elbow grease is what I use. Slow going, and hard on the arm muscles so I do a bit at a time as a side job. Needs little if any wire brushing afterwards on the flat areas, and I use decent Bosch wire wheels in the battery drill for corner bits. The wire wheel removes...

Re: another 73T Targa restoration thread

Here is just a tiny selection of the frontal repair photos... I am lucky to have a spot welder with various long and short arms, plus TIG and MIG and switch between them as necessary, including when the gas runs out on TIG, again!! The other thing that I found is that the Dansk and OEM coatings, eve...

Hi guys, having recently introduced myself and the car, it was suggested that I start a restoration thread so here goes!! Please have a read of my intro for background. I have already completed a lot of the metalwork, including new OEM latch panel, and front half suspension pan, and all the dodgy bi...

Re: Another new member, but long term 73T owner

Thanks for the welcomes guys, that's very nice of you all! Honestly speaking, I'm not a great fan of the original 334 colour, although there is a bit of a debate about the actual shade and if/just how much it differs from 324 which is not my cuppa T. The old colour charts suggest that 334 should be ...

Another new member, but long term 73T owner

Hi guys, Just had my account activated - took almost a year :-P (thanks for helping hook me up Kirk!) I've had my 73T MFI Targa since about 1995. It had a bit of a bump when I got it, so I picked it up cheap. I had it repaired and it scraped through its MOT once I had added a bit of metal filler aro...
