Re: 1987 3.2 Carrera Backdate project - Sladeys hotrod

Well no one seems to be interested any more (thanks Gary). I suppose things change and people aren’t so interested in this stuff any more - we’re all more used to watching videos. No problem it’ll save me wasting time taking photos and writing it up. I’ll stick a post on here when it’s finish...

Re: 1987 3.2 Carrera Backdate project - Sladeys hotrod

Sounds like a slog! I guess with all the myriad of variations of the 911 heating system it was always going to be a challenging.
Bit like getting the wipers in and out, seemingly impossible unless you take the completely non instinctive route!

Re: My '72 911T

Short update! Over enthusiastic use of salt by our local council stopped play in November, I wouldn’t normally be put off driving but after the hours I’ve got in the bodyshell of this thing I’m going to look after it a bit better this time. Grabbed the last sunny afternoon before the salt to give it...

Finally got round to editing a short video last night from Grossglockner last year. My old laptop just cried when I tried to open the Go Pro files :)

Re: Outer sill top edge... cut off to replace sill?

As Sean said, try and remove it gently as it’s the top one of three layers. Agree that if the outer is bad enough to warrant replacement then the middle sill (in Sean’s pic) and jacking point will need some love. I took out the middle sill as well on my car, and by that point the flange was shot, so...

Re: Any tips for 915 gearbox end cover swap

As you can see, the speedo bits are already installed inside the replacement cover (in good condition, but sounds like it has dirt in it when turned). I’d take it all apart and clean it if it sounds gritty, as a minimum blast it with brake cleaner then put some oil on it until it feels ok. Where is...

Re: Brake calliper rebuilds or new

Check if the pads have worn evenly. I had a set that ended up like a wedge (for no apparent reason) and that made it pull all over.
