Re: Engine hesitant under acceleration - Coil?

IMO the MSD system spark interval (1ms) isn't fast enough to benefit from a fast coil.

Re: Coils and CDIs

Our CDI+ boxes work best with the correct Bosch CDI coil - it's that simple. It wasn't by accident, chance or luck - it's by design. If you set out to extract the best performance of any system in a motor car (electrical, mechanical or otherwise), you play to the strengths of that system. In this ca...

Lightweight space foil rear seats?

How would you even get the '73 floors and underside to join with the 996 cills, front pan etc? Would love to see underneath!

Re: Engine hesitant under acceleration - Coil?

^ Sorry Winston, but the info you have given is for Kettering type ignitions and not applicable to CDI systems. Unfortunately there are not 'branded good quality correct coils' available. Both Bosch and the aftermarket alternative both have serious issue with their vacuum process. It is good advice ...

Re: Engine hesitant under acceleration - Coil?

You MUST use a Bosch CDI coil with our ignition boxes. The Bosch CDI coil (p/n as stated above) is unique in that it is very FAST to discharge and recharge. Our boxes exploit that speed in that we fire the coil twice per combustion which offers emissions and performance benefits. We've actually desi...

Re: No spark and a clunk

If the CDI is working it will make a constant sound once the ignition is turned on. So turn it on and go to the back of the car and it should be whining. If no sound then follow Jonny’s advice True, but could be misinterpreted, hence: 1. Working CDI makes a whining noise when the ignition on. 2. Wh...

Re: No spark and a clunk

That sound isn't coming from the CDI and it isn't the starter either. My bet is the car has the electromechanical voltage regulator which has most likely failed. That might have led to the voltage going too high for the CDI box and it destroying itself. The earlier voltage regulator has contacts whi...

Re: Boxster Insurance renewal increase!

The price increase has nothing to do with the risk or the price of anything. It has to do with the sad fact that our government thinks the only way the UK can make money is through financial services, especially since the scandalous megaspaff on Covid PPE. If you think of anything that you're gettin...
