68 Alternator wiring

That, of course, involves removing the wiring to the alternator and I really shouldn't touch wiring. Until recently I thought all electricity wires were filled ...

What? clocking? Did it to my 68 car just the other day when the old speedo stopped working. The replacement one needed a haircut to read correctly.

All perfectly legitimate officer.

On 996s and 997s yes, there is a readout on the ECU for mileage and hours used that can't be adjusted, even if the mileometer is altered. You need the PIWIS diagnostics thing to read it.

Dunno about other moderns but I guess it's likely they're the same.

Ooooh. Lovely. 7" front and 8" rears methinks. I have very happy memories of my lairy old turbo. Funny how the fact that I had to fit new pistons most years after melting them doesn't trouble me now and all I remember is the lovely balance and the way it went once eventually on boost. http...

It's 'only' £175 for the joining fee, the £345 includes the first year's membership.

I wonder what the waiting list is and how much I could sell my spot for... ;)

Hmm. Thanks all.

What I suspected really.

We tend to exhibit at the Revival and FoS so discounted entry and parking isn't beneficial, though a mooch about the paddocks would be nice.

I'll keep staring at the paperwork in the hope that someone offers to pay it for me.

GRRC - worth the subscription?

I have before me the joining info for the Goodwood Road Racing Club, I know a few people here are members, just wondered whether I dust off my chequebook and stump the readies to join... £170 a year isn't too bad, but they want £345 for the first year and I'm very, very tight. Do folk get good value...

They want to talk about the Beckham 993.

Not sure why yet, I'll find out in a few hours - if I can stay awake until then.

Anyone listen to talkSPORT?

If so, be sure to tune in at 11.15 tonight and listen to me mumble and giggle my way through a bit of a live discussion with Ian Collins.

Anyone got any amusing anecdotes?

Or know any good swear words?
