Inertia Reels

Seatbelts were mounted into insufficiently strong holes in the floor so I've welded 7/16 UNF captive nuts on 3mm plate into the inner sills and added intertia reels into the pre-existing mount pounts. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51423856135_d88963497c_b.jpg These are to get the car safely dr...

Re: USA 1970 911T - the Tangerine Dream

I got him a stable mate recently because they get lonely you know. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51423130218_73315c6d8e_b.jpg That's a Paul Stephens car restored around 8 years ago. Paintwork is immaculate and it draws attention wherever it goes. But I'll be driving the tangerine dream first. ...

Re: USA 1970 911T - the Tangerine Dream

Will soon hit the car with a whole load of orange. Signal orange is the original colour, so I've registered it orange in the UK. For that to be lawful it has to actually be orange. This won't be its final paint but I will be driving it for a little while like this. The USA lights need changing for U...

My friends and I have history there. Amazing what you can accomplish with a few cans of gloss and some paintbrushes.

Re: USA 1970 911T - the Tangerine Dream

Nice looking project, not sure of the whale tale mind, you keeping that? I'm going to keep it for the time being. Struggling to find an engine lid for a reasonable price so maybe if I'm patient one will come up. I don't trust myself to drill the holes straight for the Porsche lettering, so I want t...

USA 1970 911T - the Tangerine Dream

This is my 1970T which has come to me from the desert state of New Mexico in USA. My short-term objective will be to get it roadworthy and serviceable. In the longer-term I may well restore it. Any permanent work I will be doing to a high standard - invisibly seam-welding any repairs etc., new windo...

Re: How desirable is the 1974 Carrera 2.7 MFI ?

Here are the known cars: http://carreramfi.com/registry/ I checked the VIN on there assuming the digits have been mis-read as I hypothesise and it is indeed a white car known to come from Germany. Also, that car was rebuilt in 2012 which might account for the claimed 9,000 miles so the theory bears...

Re: How desirable is the 1974 Carrera 2.7 MFI ?

The interior and motor certainly look 74-5 Carrera. I’d want to look very carefully at the VIN stamp before parting with cash. But if it’s just been incorrectly registered as a 72 car at import (which isn’t impossible) and you can get DVLA to correct it that could be a bargain. With the doctored en...

Re: How desirable is the 1974 Carrera 2.7 MFI ?

Very sought after - not comparable to an SC Good ones that are original or restored can fetch a lot of money It appears this may be one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/274652398869 I assume the owner has died and nobody knows what it is. The vendor has the wrong VIN. I think they've read ...25... off t...

How desirable is the 1974 Carrera 2.7 MFI ?

Is the 1974 Carrera 2.7 MFI a particularly rare and desirable car, in the scheme of things? I'm reading about them in the same sentence as the 1973 RS - a short-lived impact-bumper version - but I wasn't aware of them being so rare and desirable. Are they in that £200k+ bracket of unobtainable super...

Re: Are 1970 seatbelt captive nuts useless?

I would say all LWB 911's have the mounting point for retractable reel. From 69 to 71 the Autoflug reels were an option besides the more standard 3-point fixed RePa seat belts (country depending). For MY72/73 the RePa/VW retractable seat belts were offered. Cees thanks. seems reasonable as the 7/16...

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210829/87db69b1467f76426998c21c9d48273f.jpg I bidded on the 1974 convertible with 964 bumpers shown in this picture on ebay around a month ago - the vendor didn't respond to any questions and cancelled the auction before its end. I put it down to an abandoned frau...
