Re: 1987 3.2 Carrera Backdate project - Sladeys hotrod

Me too, but just think of all the fun (buying tools and messing about in the garage) that Sladey’s had doing it the hard way

Re: Stainless cup holder

Thx for the quick delivery. It arrived yesterday while I was out, so I collected from the sorting office this morning. BTW, nice posing pouch to keep it mint during transit :salute: Fitted quickly and easily (once I had removed the residual broken 3D printed version). Just need a drink to put in it ...

Re: Classic Autowerks ‘Ultimate Shift Rod Bushing’

It would be appreciated if someone could possibly post a picture when it’s been fitted, just to show how it fits into the bracket etc. 🤔 Also does anyone know/think replacing this shift bushing will alter how the gearshift coupler is set up, hope not because it took me bloomin ages and a lot of swe...

Re: Wot, not another '79 Targa resto thread

Thanks to Mat's bulk buy from the US, time to fit my new shift linkage bush today (there's quite a post on this topic elsewhere). The good news is that there is no need to upset the rear linkage connection, although it is a little tight to get the allen key to remove the grub screw on the cup under ...

Re: AGM Batteries

I’ve got an Optima on my Targa, along with a high capacity alternator from Jonny. The alternator is (AFAIK) the same technology as the original (no additional smarts in the regulator), so charges the same (just faster). If the car is not being used for a week or so, it goes into the garage and I con...

Re: Wot, not another '79 Targa resto thread

Well, finally adjusted the gearshift linkage alignment at the rear coupler. Resulted in a silky smooth 3rd gear selection. Shame that it now didn’t like second. So, having used the 911 over the weekend to go to sailing (SWMBO’s Jag door handles are a b1tch to open when frozen, then won’t latch if yo...

Re: I need a 15 inch diameter by 7 inch wide Fuchs wheel

IIRC, isn’t a 5 1/2 a better fit in the froot. Obvs only a temporary spare wheel but I wouldn’t want to drive far or fast on a space saver either.

Failing that, a couple of ‘instant’ tyre repair aerosols plus a plug repair kit ?

Re: Wot, not another '79 Targa resto thread

Having ‘fixed’ the gearstick, I will try readjusting the rear coupling. Seems like a bit more ‘pause’ is needed between second and third recently
