Re: '65

Work has begun. Most of the words (and all of the useful ones) for a while now will be Barry's. He shall be italicised. To start with, method of removing fasteners: weld a nut over the broken bit, thermal shock tends to free most things even if it takes a few goes. removed the seat-belt bolt in same...

Re: 928

Excellent stuff! Thanks for that, love the shell weight trivia. To add to my growing list of fascinating 928-based conversation starters. Mine is fitting its brief rather well. End of last week it was out and about in SE1, then on Friday night proved exactly the right car for a little trip to Paris ...

Re: Book Wanted ... Porsche - The Racing 914s

Looks like the reissued paperback version is planned for June 2024. How fast is that project moving, Dave?

Fair point. Torque is sufficient, I would say.

Who dares wins, Rodney. Or something. All very smug at the moment, it can't last. I do think it fits the brief, though, so the fundamentals are promising.

Thanks.
Collected from near Halifax. Then a bit of a run to Thirsk where the in-laws live, which included nice roads. Need to get back up there and explore.

Re: 928

Oh yes, one other unexpected stat. Mpg for the collection and run home was 24.2 (measured properly). Nice surprise. https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/58c0f610d482e969f2bf11d6/1705845395193-EELG1195S84FM6G5LHUR/image-asset.jpeg?format=1000w See, told you it looks cool in hotel car parks. ...

Re: 928

So, quick first impressions following a first drive in Yorkshire, visit to the in-laws, night-time into Leeds, then home to Surrey. 300-odd miles in an unknown quantity. Facts: Did not break down LH mirror glass fell out but was saved by its heating wires Coolant low warning came on (.... never a ha...

Re: 928

Thanks all Thanks Sam. Surprisingly encouraging (they do have a bit of a reputation...) I believe they mainly got that reputation because, contrary to the 911, for a long time the 928 were unloved, old cars and often owned by people who couldn't afford proper maintenance. If you keep on top of thing...

Re: 928

"I wanted, and don't currently have, a car that is good at motorways but not boring when you reach the other end. To make things like Alps and Scandi road trips enjoyable throughout, not only when you get to the interesting bit." That's exactly why I bought my GTS as a "long distance...

Re: 928

Last bit of trivia. It may have had some careful owners, but the second (2017-2020) was one Chris Harris.
Presumably he doesn't always drive sideways? Not all the time?

Re: 928

Thanks all. I think it will be amusing, if nothing else. There is a small amount of logic to this (no, really).
