Re: Help on OEM fron wing fitting & fettling

Try Dansk on for size, and be ready for a challenge. I battled Dansk front wings, re-skinned Dansk doors and Porsche rear wings, Dansk sills, inner and outer. Of all these panels the sills were the worse, but this was many years ago, maybe they are better now? I gave up on getting 'Barry' gaps. So ...

Well done, I think that's brilliant.

Top priority is to make sure the doors are in the correct positions in all planes (back / forward / tilt / in-out). These need to be double checked with the door window frames in (make sure there're no glaring errors there. Having the side frames in helps you confirm that the doors are sitting rough...

Re: Cheap auto-darkening welding masks ...

Old thread I know, but I just happened to be passing by ( :hello2: ). I'm assuming we're talking about MIG welding here. I use a range of masks: the cheapest is just a basic one (Draper I think this time), all the way up to a £1200 Adflo / Speedglas system. The expensive one renders colours, has sid...

993 sills? I seem to remember that as recent as 2 years ago Porsche were re-making 911 sills (without indents). NLA already? The ones on the car had long been bought, way before the 911 ones were re-introduced. Did feel odd getting the old sill-drain tool and sill shaped stake dolly out again thoug...

Re: Le mans Classic cancelled this year.

I wonder if we'll have two years in a row or go to odd numbers going forward?

Either way, there will be a number of projects that will have a better chance of making the new deadline!

I love that! Who for? That's real unsung hero stuff :) . Car exterior designers get all the kudos but we forget everything else needs designing too.

Re: Harry’s garage car storage ..

One thing you can do is make sure the last tank-full is non-ethanol fuel, so more likely to be a Super-Unleaded of some flavour. I always do that, particularly for fuel kept in cans that might not get used for months. The boat often runs on the same single can for a season and that's always Super. A...

Re: Door striker shims- what size?

Hi Ash, usually I adjust / manipulate the B-post back and forth to give one standard shim on each side. This might be reduced post-paint depending on the quantity of product the painter has applied to the A-post, door hinges and B-post front face. As has been mentioned, you can find almost anything ...

Re: Good to have a project.

Haven't touched a car for weeks, or a motorbike, but have been busy. Restored the wood on the Garden Globe, and adjusted the seat height on Mrs Hillclimber's garden weeding seat... Have re-kindled a very long ago hobby when I was in short trousers, model aeroplanes. Just finished this one, a Standa...
