Re: 1973.5 US 911T restoration

So I spent most of yesterday up with my 911 while the bodywork guy went off with his family for the long weekend. Great to be able to spend some time reacquainting myself with the work that has been done and what remains. The photos below are really to demonstrate a few other places where the car is...

Re: 1973.5 US 911T restoration

I hope your rust issue is isolated, but it doesn't look pretty.... It looks worse than mine was: https://www.ddk-online.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=59241&start=30 I ended up with almost a complete rebuild from the bulkhead forward! Paul Paul - thanks for that link, you have dealt with s...

Hi, can I have Item No. 3, the gasket set please.

It would need to be posted but should be fairly light. If still available, please pm me and I will provide address etc.

Cheers,

I found it improved the fit if you bent the lower section further in by clamping the bit where the rubber goes between a long piece of wood and the bench then gently tweak it.
Thanks. You mentioned that the bumper caps weren't so good? Ala

Re: Comfort seat help

I like your first idea. Can't quite visualise the second. I'm sending my comfort seats to Garry at Classic FX for repair and presumably pros like him have their techniques for firming up these seats while retaining some originality. Don't immediately like the notion of replacing with moulded foam. Y...

Spot the difference… Now with added sill trims. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220520/c90fd408f424042785ce0c5499568906.jpg I was planning to tape these on, but there’s no way that would work with this shape. So drilling into fresh paint and new metal and some self tappers had to be done… Covere...

Re: So far , so good! Hillclimb Lola-Porsche report

Fantastic, hill climbing scares the sh*t out of me! Much prefer tracks with run-off! You guys have the bigger cahunah's.

Great that your engine project has delivered exactly what you wanted.

Re: 1973.5 US 911T restoration

At this stage I hadn’t removed any wings or bumpers but the initial inspection from below was that the rear arches, kidney bowls and b-pillar areas were in great shape, still with original coatings and sepia brown paint. Sorry to say that I can’t find photos of these areas but I will take some new s...

Re: 1973.5 US 911T restoration

OK, so moving on to what’s needed on this restoration, the advert for the car provided the following advice from the UK specialist who brought the car in from the US (I think he bought it at auction). Complete strip of vehicle, remove engine/gearbox and mechanical parts Media blast to bare metal att...

Thanks Ian,

I’ve realised that today I’ve come to work in a sweater that matches my tan desert boots… the brown thing must be catching!

Re: 1973.5 US 911T restoration

check the original spec as a lot of the 1973.5 T ive seen all had the S trim pack OK, I’ll have a look. Would that have included an S bumper? I have already purchased a stock one and period correct fog lamps on the basis that it has a switch for front fogs on the dash. But if we conclude that it is...

Nice looking project start. Having driven a 73.5 the CIS motor is a nice one 8). What’s the original colour ? Sepia ? On my car, the gear linkage cover inside has the vinyl covering with a piped edge .. mine is the solid type rather than the vented. To be honest I’ve never paid much attention to we...

Lots of obvious issues there to be dealt with but also plenty under cover. Here are a few shots of a very tired interior: https://i.postimg.cc/G29mRNSP/2014-09-15-13-38-14.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/9XKrmm2D/2014-09-15-13-37-39.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/d3k32X2Q/2014-09-15-13-37-58.jpg https://i.postim...
