Re: Late/Early Car
Just thinking about this has brought back to mind a story I was told some time ago and I know I've posted this on here before (although a loooong time ago ): a well known racing driver cum dealership owner returned from a foreign event having smashed his M471 up so badly the shell, he was advis...

Re: Late/Early Car
all numbers and ident marks + all specific year model body details too ....... age old argument, oncw all the old rusty metal is cut back, you are left with bugger all , do you 'build up' the body around the numbers bit by bit , or do you 'install' a pre built body around the numbers . With the cor...

Re: Late/Early Car
Is the commission number also carried over? If so, then it's passing off something as something else. Simples

Mike has got 'scripts' on his car - just not red ...
Good point Andy - red on black beats stealth black on black anyway

Re: Jensen Button's 2.7RS For Sale
According to the good book #0128 was Sweden and #1280 was Italy - both blackleft4dead wrote:Is that the same as #1280, Philippmjt wrote:If I'm right - #0128
Or have I missed something?!
The photo I posted was of #0128 when it was offered to me some time ago

If I'm right - #0128 - this is the car about five years ago while still in Sweden:

Re: Jensen Button's 2.7RS For Sale
If I'm right - originally an Italian market car which spent a lot of time in Sweden. Fiskens got it needing tidying but it was generally a very sound car.

Re: Aston Martin V8
I think the engine team at TWR might have a difference of opinion over who did the work on the six :) That's interesting - thanks Gary - *my* understanding was that it *was* Tom Walkinshaw's team who worked over the Mondeo unit - however I now think I'm wrong and it was the AJ6 unit in 3.2ltr form?...

Re: OT: heat in a 993
if its anything like the similarly aged BMW control units i'm guessing they "fail" with dry joints? wonder if its possible to just pull it apart and re-flow all the solder joints to fix it? might be worth a try if the only other alternative ends up being to add £900 to porsches bottom lin...

Re: OT: heat in a 993
Unfortunately, as the 993's are getting older, the heater control units (where the levers are ) are starting to go - there's quite a lot of electronics in there. Last time I replaced one (on my old 993RS) it cost something insane like £900 from Porsche / OPC and I believe stocks were very lim...

Re: Aston Martin V8
I correct myself - it was Cosworth who worked the magic on the engines - both 6 and 12.

Re: Aston Martin V8
For what its worth, I think the above info refers to the 'straight 6' not the V12 (engine wise that is), I seem to remember that engine is (loosely) based on a Ford Mondao. The 6 from Ford <cough> parts bin with a major work over by Walkinshaw, the V12 came from Ford PAG - read Jaguar I'm af...

Re: Aston Martin V8
Not quite, PMJT, but you're not completely wrong either. The XJS is another seriously underrated car - successful competition history too Sorry - engine is derived from the XJ / TWR modified unit. Gearbox virtually identical. Floorpan is almost exactly the same. From Wikipedia: "The DB7, known...
