I thought you were originally asking for a set of 90mm pistons & barrels for a 2.2L not a 2.4 ?
Yes, sorry my bad now edited. (Same pistons tho I think;)

Re: Good usable 90mm pistons & cylinders wanted

Do you realise that if fitting 90mm pistons you'll end up with quite a low compression ratio ? ok I did some calcs and notionally the 2.7 pistons must be 1.908mm shorter than the 2.2 pistons. That assumes the cylinder heads are the same (anybody know the truth of that?) If the heads are indeed the ...

Re: Cobra Classic seats: opinions sought

I have that style of seat in my 3.2 hot rod, which to be fair has 10 inch tyres on the back and eight on the front so it creates quite a bit of lateral G. Even if I throw the car around a bit, they hold me very nicely, and they're comfortable, but I notice they don't hold the top half of my body as ...

Re: Assessing an unknown engine

Fair enough, that’s broken! Slipped timing chain maybe? Valves may look ok but probably warrant replacement. I'm trying to think if the two broken pistons were on the tight side. One side cam nut was absurdly tight. Maybe it was so tight they couldn't time it, or maybe as you say, it slipped and ti...

Re: Assessing an unknown engine

There’s no (visible) scoring on the bores from that damage? Difficult to see from the photos, but is the top of the piston clean or is it some deposit build ups that then look like damage? To my eye all looks good aside from the break. Here, I cleaned one up. What's surprising is the valves seem in...

There's something there but I'd say it's more subtle corrosion. I think there is the slightest hint of a score...

Re: Assessing an unknown engine

So that just leaves one cylinder on the engine, on the other side. Gently turning the crankshaft I was able to confirm it's this cylinder restricting the movement of the crank. I guess I'll add some more fluid and save that battle for another day. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240421/499e5856d6...

Re: Assessing an unknown engine

After making room for some of the parts, I turned the engine over today and removed the other rocker assembly. The left side of the engine tells a different story. These must have been the problems seen on the scope. Two pistons are broken where the exhaust valve cutout meets the barrel. With both c...

Re: Die Garage der Schande

Amazing what you can find hiding away in a cluttered garage. The chipboard I thought I had was nowhere to be found, but finding this 8x4 sheet of ply tucked behind the racking was a surprise. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240421/d7ec47258434d9972de1ae131132a8c6.jpg New shelf finished https://up...

Re: Die Garage der Schande

This shelf will be made entirely out of bits and bobs I kept because they might be useful one day - joist offcuts, some spare hangers, a nail gun I wasn't sure I'd ever use again... I'm taking this as vindicating my hoarding habits. Batten the opposite side and some joists across: https://uploads.ta...

About £2000 should cover it.
"Never again" I'm pretty sure you said last time. [emoji3]

Anyway, I think you should twin plug that one too.

Have you got an MAF on there? If so, what injection system?

Re: Die Garage der Schande

I'm sorry to admit that I've had a relapse. In my enthusiasm dismantling this engine I've got carried away and been placing cam covers, an air box, mfi system, and bags of nuts, bolts and other parts on top of everything else. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240420/8bf613e61b6f67c2eebe9759aabe775...
