Re: What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?

After being fed up of all gas bonnet struts lifting the rear corners of the bonnet hinges (including mixing in old nearly knackered ones) fitted Rennline mechanical struts. Yes I tried all sorts of hinge adjustments, making their holes bigger, including letting the bonnet fall on my fingers.... whic...

Re: 123 Distributors

Thanks Bruce Interesting point. The curve I initially created was based on the Porsche graphs, so vacuum off and plotted in between the curves as per guidance (but with a tiny bit taken of). Run up the motorway today and now plotted back to the average. The app allows you to tune back the vacuum bac...

Re: 123 Distributors

Next day delivery sometimes is actually next day. First up the instructions for wiring are pants.. There are three wires: A red that I sent to where the MSD gets power from, bottom fuse on the engine board. A blue that is the earth (brown is so outdated), take your pick, but this went to the neg on ...

Re: 123 Distributors

Ok bullet bitten (particularly as it was on the shelf and I got a trade rate with next day delivery bundled in) In the end after some extensive balancing of easy... The switch version with the preloaded maps versus the Bluetooth, optimise the map yourself, but you get a ton of extraneous data you'll...

Re: What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?

Went for a drive / fiddle with the MFI this evening, got stuck in pretty much standstill traffic for an hour to go one junction on the M25. Had to go VW Beetle and crawl along with the deck lid open. That'll bloody learn me, should have gone with plan A and driven to the pub! Sent from my SM-G981B u...

Re: '73 T wiper function questions

The other element of the use case of get water off the windscreen is the wipers. For the "right" look I've got 13 inch bog standard Bosch wipers. For the I actually want to move a lot of water and remove bugs with some help with the squirters Bosch Aerotwins Yes they look a bit fugly on th...

123 Distributors

I know there have been some thoughts on the 123 Distributors on the other models boards but has anyone used these in their 911? My distributor needs some love, maybe too much.... It's all in at about 3.8k and is nowhere near the top marks when trying to set timing at high revs (rather than from idle...

Re: Gear Oil other than Swepco

Update on the Motul HD 80w90 mineral Upsides... Got to Spa no probs with it as you'd kind of expect as it's just gear oil Bit nervous about spanking it around the track given the occasional desire to gob out of 3rd gear which would sort of be a problem. Turned out no problems at all and no gobbing. ...

Recreating a shamelessly robbed idea... Absolutely mobbed down there today but if you get the right angle.... (Just before Brussels the speedo cable broke and shortly after that I noticed my fuel economy significantly improved..... what a coincidence!) https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230514/bb726...

Re: 123 distributor for 356

I've been recently contemplating one of these for the 911 but have read some off reviews. These seem to relate to duff caps and rotor arms. Do people tend to go for the bluetooth ones or not. I'm assuming the fallback on the off chance the distributor or the company to pop is to keep your current di...

Me too..... This was at Salon Privé a couple of weeks ago and I was over there like a rat up a drainpipe. Why.... SW1947 features as the lead car on the 1970 Marathon De la Route / 86 hours of the the Nurburgring Porsche poster (For any doubters as to the 914's badassery 914s took all three gongs). ...
