Re: 9000 mile 72 widebody

Red shroud so its an S engine, probably 2.4 or, dare I say it, an RS - I dont know if there are any tell-tale differences between these two, are there? Just internals are different I think... Probably 109,000, or even 209,000 miles judging by the state of it. I think its hard to put a price on a for...

Ooops - need a new oil pressure pipe, the long expensive one

Don't suppose anyone has one of these going spare for a T,E,S engine? There are a few on Ebay USA, but thought I would try here first. Unfortunately, mine snapped in two because I didnt disconnect it before my engine drop - big ooops, and regrets! I've never done that before   Can be seen...

Re: Wiper motors and intermittant wipers

My 73 handbook states that I have slow, medium and high wiping speed settings + pull to spray and fast wipe in the zero/off stalk position. No mention of intermittent operation at all, so looks like 73 didnt have it...

Re: Too good to miss

I just received this email from Lokari  Lokari MUC <info@lokari.eu> Thu 05/11/2020 08:38 Hello, at the actual situation we deliver Porsche products only to professional Porsche workshops in the UK, because it is complicating to install these wheel well liners and we have only enough support spe...

Re: BIB5566

Thanks for your comments! Thanks fro the bumper tip! :) The housings are cast aluminium I think, they still corrode terribly it seems, most you see for sale have been repaired in one way or another. I assume they had no factory protection, just bare aluminium up inside the wheel arches, Im guessing...

Re: BIB5566

thats all for now! You know that that bumper doesn't go on the back seat right ?! Loving this thread, you're doing a marvellous job ! Its interesting to see that your indicator housings are corroded- I cant quite work out what my 73 ones are made of, but they are definitely not steel. Mine se...

Don't you just hate that inevitable small oil slick that ends up on the garage floor whenever you (have to) drain the oil !!

I wish someone would invent some kind of a tap to replace the standard sump plugs !!

Re: Too good to miss

It is good to hear that the Lokari's are tried and tested, as I have had these in mind for a while, and reasonably priced I think. I dont like the look of the aluminium either, but it would be quick and easy to degrease then brush/roller or spray primer and then top coat the aluminium (or just 'dire...

OK, thank you ! There are three wires connected together on the side of the distributor, but only one wire goes to the CDS, so I think you must be talking about that one... anyway, a good plan for next time. The engine will be on the floor by this time tomorrow!

Re: 2.4T MFI first start-up for a while and new fuel tank

Sounds like a result! For future you can just pull the spade connector off the side of the distributor to stop the CDI firing. - doh! thanks! I think you might be the CDI retrofit chap? I think you might be talking about the output terminal from the CDI box? I read somewhere in one of the manuals t...

Re: 2.4T MFI first start-up for a while and new fuel tank

After syringing in some motor oil under the ends of the MFI pump oil return hose, I managed to wiggle/slide the hose down over the mating bent pipe section. I then syringed in about 0.25 litre of oil into the pump. After following the remainder of the pre-start procedure (see my restoration thread f...

Re: My '72 911T

Wish I had that space Gary!! Here is mine - car is freshly Barry'd from the front, back to the doors. Luckily, one of the three bonnets that I had collected met his approval. I decided on new OEM wings as one of mine was toast behind the hockey stick shaped support and my attempts to 'fix' it with a...
