Re: 1987 3.2 Carrera Backdate project - Sladeys hotrod
Thanks for that - I’m driving the GT4 every day so it’s getting up to temp daily. I’ll just keep on monitoring it. Great news is that I’ve heard back from David at Canems that “ hopefully all sorted” so I’m going to pick it up tonight. I’m interpreting that as him finding something wrong with it (an...

1987 3.2 Carrera Backdate project - Sladeys hotrod
Ok so things are getting a bit tense now… Not heard from David on the ECU yet. Stupidly when I dropped it off with him on Monday I forgot to get his mobile number. He’s off this week so not sure if he’s checking emails or not - so the upshot is that I have no means of getting in touch with him. He s...

I’d be interested to know on this - never been happy with the fit of my seals

1987 3.2 Carrera Backdate project - Sladeys hotrod
I see what you did there. OK the aircon man has been and he was just the sort of guy you want working on your car. I only rang him on Saturday morning and he came tonight at around 6:40 - didn’t leave until 8:30. Before he came he’d downloaded the classic retrofit manual and read up on what was need...

Re: 1987 3.2 Carrera Backdate project - Sladeys hotrod
Dropped the ecu off this morning and met David. Nice guy - he said he’ll do what he can to turn it around quickly for me which is great. I’m just hoping that it is the ECU - that is the problem. Every thing we did points at that though so fingers crossed.
The AC guy is calling around later on today

Re: 1987 3.2 Carrera Backdate project - Sladeys hotrod
Ok so while I can’t do anything more on the engine (I’m going to drop the ecu off at David’s - Canems- house tomorrow ) I thought I’d attend to the little jobs I was going to do once I’d got it running. The first was the front left indicator not working. Unusually for me I approached it methodically...

Once again Bruce you are way beyond my pay grade but I know a beep when I hear one and when I don’t. Thanks for your help!

Re: 1987 3.2 Carrera Backdate project - Sladeys hotrod
OK I’ve done that now - disconnected all three on a bank and then tested for continuity between the two pins. No continuity on either bank which is good

Re: 1987 3.2 Carrera Backdate project - Sladeys hotrod
Ah so I should disconnect all 3 of them and then test?
I’ll try that later.
I actually heard back from David at Canems late last night saying he’s away today but if I post it to him at home he’ll aim to get it back to me in time. Excellent service.

Re: 1987 3.2 Carrera Backdate project - Sladeys hotrod
With the ECU plug disconnected, there shouldn’t be continuity between the injector plug pins. The ECU injector driver probably links the injector signal wire to 12v via a resistor when not firing the injector (a “pull up” resistor) and a semiconductor will sink it to ground when the injector is ope...

Re: 1987 3.2 Carrera Backdate project - Sladeys hotrod
Not really sure on this continuity idea now. I’ve unplugged the injector loom and I get continuity between the two pins on every injector - even with the main injector loom unplugged. The only thing I can think of is that the two pins are connected somehow inside each plug - which I just don’t under...
