Engine sound deadening mat
I have a great baltic and linen 89 3.2 176 k miles. The engine was totally rebuilt by the previous owner but he did not replace the engine insulation mat at the same time. The mat which is probably original has dropped and disintegrating and needs replaced. Is this a straightforward job and what if ...

Re: 89 3.2 engine hesitation
Well good result. The car now revs through the range to the red. The speed sensors were swapped for new from euro car parts 120£ . The drive shaft was removed for access and the new sensors were slightly shorter than original so bit of messing to get gap but great success. The original sensors had d...

Re: 89 3.2 engine hesitation
Hi Guys. It definitely feels like a rev limiter situation as it is a clean cut off at 5800. Goes beautifully right up to that. The engine is very clean, manic owner, so can’t see that being the issue. Dean’s experience has worried me though. Just checked an invoice for work done summer 2019 about 20...

89 3.2 engine hesitation
My 89 Baltic Blue / Linen 3.2 is in great shape and ready for summer apart from one thing. On a spirited test drive it has developed a ‘ hesitation ‘ in revs at 5800 rpm. It feels like the rev limiter kicking in over all cylinders a sort of , ‘putt... putt...putt’ with minor sort of backfire. It is ...

Re: 3.2 Carrera 89 heavy steering
Thanks all for the advice. I note what Sam says re the heavier steering and lower revs . I have had the opportunity to drive a well sorted 79 SC and my 89 3.2 back to back. Yes the cars are very different but neither is the worse for that . The SC was so easy to rev that I instantly thought that the...

3.2 Carrera 89 heavy steering
I had an 89 3.2 back in 1990 and from memory the steering was heavy. Now I am 30 years older and I have an 89 3.2 again . The steering is heavy at stop and turning at slow speed. This is a problem for darling wife whom I am keen to encourage as I am secretly planning a run to the Austrian alps in th...
