Re: Road Tripping to the Pyrenees

Saturday So time to split up as most of the group were getting the ferry in the morning from Santander but the 3 964’s were heading north to drive through France for a few days tour. This was why our wives had flown out to join us. I won’t go into too much detail but we took 3 nights / 4 days stayin...

Road Tripping to the Pyrenees

As an overall view … but also bear in mind the weather changes perspective of things and we go in May before the tourist and campers get out Alps are good but I think too popular and yes Swiss police are not to be messed with due to their strictness on speed etc . Alpine tarmac is good and the roads...

Re: Road Tripping to the Pyrenees

Friday Today we were heading west to Bilbao for our last hotel stay as a group and where we were meeting 3 important people who were flying into Bilbao from the UK , as for some us this wasn’t the end of the trip. Boydy was heading back up north to stay with friends near Bordeaux so we said our good...

Re: Road Tripping to the Pyrenees

Thursday Nothing like waking up and again looking out at a wet car park . This had become the norm. Mixed feelings this morning as although we’d have loved it to be bone dry, maybe the damp roads would just keep us all in check on what we were driving first thing ! Today was a big day and our final ...

Road Tripping to the Pyrenees

Wednesday Today was one I was worried about as the original plans had to be thrown out the window due to one of the passes still being closed ( this is where via Michelin maps are better than google maps as google still showed it open ) . This didn’t matter too much as I had a back up plan, but the ...

Road Tripping to the Pyrenees

Tuesday Only a few days in and we were all starting to feel a tired as these road trips are intense. So it was not ideal to look out the window and see wet tarmac with rain moving in ! Today we were heading north and into the hills aiming to be in Andorra to visit its car museum and then grab some l...

Road Tripping to the Pyrenees

Monday Today was the first proper day and the weather was looking good. We had 220 miles ahead of us , all ‘driving roads’ . Boydy had got up early and managed to blag a tool from the local garage to swap his fan belt so all was good there. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240523/1540d94a4321521cd...
