Re: 123 Distributors

Great post! I too am currently running MSD 6AL and Pertronix on a '73T and have been pretty happy with it but am keen to do away with the mechanical advance on the distributor as well. How is this setup going for your so far? Do you know if you're still getting the multiple spark discharge/strength ...

Re: Excessive Popping on Slow Deceleration

Ok will give that a go thanks. It does drone a bit but sounds incredible past 4000 rpm.

Re: Excessive Popping on Slow Deceleration

I guess the main question here is whether it is bad for the car or not? If not, the sound doesn’t bother me too much.

Excessive Popping on Slow Deceleration

So I've had a go at tuning my weber carbs quite a few times now and feel like I'm getting ok at it. I use the procedure outlined in 101 projects and seem to get a nice strong idle. On that note, it does seem a little high up at 1000 rpm. This is with the idle adjustment screws at the front of the ca...

Re: Oil spark plug thread

Do you know of any other ways that oil can get on the top of the cylinder head other than a leaky valve cover gasket?

Re: Oil spark plug thread

ah that does sound plausible. I took one from either side of the engine and they both looked the same like the picture. I did have both valve covers off at one point without replacing the gasket so wondering if it could be that.

Oil spark plug thread

Hi All, I decided to remove two of the plugs today to see how my new carb tune was treating them. Both had oil on which was alarming. However, the oil was only at the base of the thread which makes me think the rocker cover seal could have leaked? I do remember taking it off recently to tighten a lo...

Re: Intermittent brake light switch

I took it off and the contact seemed to be slightly corroded despite it not being on the car for long. The contact area is so small though that I can't imagine its hard to lose conductivity. I filed it and put some conductive grease on so hopefully that should last.

Intermittent brake light switch

A while back I noticed my brake lights had stopped working. I then replaced the switch making sure to adjust the range of motion on the little lever to match up with the brake pedal travel which temporarily fixed the problem. I adjusted the range of motion on the switch again slightly which worked f...
