Re: Video

Re: 901 gearbox
Thanks, car was up on the lift yesterday, and the clutch adjustment point didn't have a lock nut on it. I think its been that way for its life, and was never a problem. So a lock nut was put on, clutch adjusted but I am purchasing all the new cable bits.

901 gearbox
Does the box have an inspection window to view the pressure plate and clutch?
Clutch cable seems to be stretching or the pressure plate is wearing. Does the engine and transmission have to come out to make the determination?

Re: Batteries for my 69E Bosch S4001
Just an update, I went out and put 20 miles on the car. Voltage dropped to 8.9V, cranked slowly but it fired. Thankfully I had installed one of the hot CD boxes a few years ago. After about 45 minutes of running, one of the batteries didn't charge very well, and it cranked slowly on the drive but st...

Re: Batteries for my 69E Bosch S4001
The battery conditioner was what made the batteries live, I had a 4 yr battery on my daily driver, a Merc C220 diesel and it lived 4 yrs and then good bye.g3ngs2 wrote:I can't make any specific recommendations - but I salute your getting your money's worth out of those batteries
Bravo sir!

Batteries for my 69E Bosch S4001
What's the latest on the best battery brand? The two cheapies in my car finally failed, and wouldn't start the car today. They are on a conditioner, and I at least had 14 years life out of batteries for which I paid GBP 35 each. Not bad value. I understand the Bosch batteries made in Spain have a hi...

Being a short chap, I sit low in my 911. Does anyone make a device to put on the seat rail that will raise the seating position ? Car has its standard seats.

Re: Tyres
No problem, I checked with an old mate who was a chassis engineer at a major car company, and bounced the idea of a Porsche friend. Both thought the tyres would be OK under the conditions. The tyres are stored off the car in my garage. I think they may get a bit of sunlight as they are not far from ...

Tyres
Would appreciate your thoughts on this one. I wish to have my Fuchs wheels refurbed (15 inch on the car now), and the original 14 inch set has tyres which are from around 2000. Rather than doing the job myself, I'd use my local tyre shop which is about 5 miles away, and the speeds from the shop home...

Re: Porsche Classic Oil
The leak isn't from the rocker covers, its from the left hand side head to engine casing joint. Back in the dark ages, in my 1971 Capri (1.6 crossflow kent engine), I tried Mobile 1, and it was a disaster. Burned oil like a steam engine burns coal. So I won't even consider a semi or full synthetic o...

Re: Porsche Classic Oil
I won't run synthetic or semi in the 1969 car. Its currently running on Valvoline 20-50 race oil.

Porsche Classic Oil
I was at Goodwood over the weekend, and spoke to the Porsche Classic people. My car has a few small leaks, and some oil has found its way into the SSI left hand side heat exchanger. Result, some smoke around left hand turns. The Porsche chap said that if I used his oil, the oil leak may cease. To me...
