Re: Do we need a high level brake light in a speedster??
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200820/4e18c0c8cf185b3dd8a18623fce7e511.jpg That’s what I’m doing. Made up a temporary 3/4 length grille out of ABS plastic. E marked LED fog light sits on a horizontal platform underneath it in the bottom of the grille space. I bought the rear fog light latch rel...

No but it will need a rear fog lamp.

Wanted - 356 / 356a door frames
Looking for a pair of 356 / 356a door frames at a reasonable price. They don’t necessarily need to shine but they do need to be straight and free of holes and dents. What’s out there?

Re: IVA thread
It is possible to use an engine of any age but if you want exemption from full emissions testing it needs to be pre 1975. It is on the owner to provide evidence of the engine’s age. 1975 or older and it is just a visual inspection for excessive smoke. How far away from IVA are you?

Those door garnish rails look better than the real thing. Amazing!

Swap? : left side rear garnish rail
Bit of a long shot... I recently sourced a left side rear garnish rail from the US. The seller told me it was for an A and the photos suggested that too. When it arrived it was clearly for a C or T5B as it isn’t straight like the one I already have on the opposite side. Given the duties and shipping...

Re: IVA thread
Daytime running lights not required for IVA. Normal Beetle set up for front lights is fine.

Re: Pre-A Outlaw replica.
It’s looking great. Really coming together well. Do you have an idea of how long before you can drive it on the road?

Re: Rear reflectors for IVA
Thanks both. Yes probably not worth jeopardising a pass over something so simple to avoid. I may go down the originals with inner tube route as it’s proven.
Thanks again for the feedback.

Rear reflectors for IVA
Looking for some guidance beyond the IVA manual itself please.... I am using 356a t1 beehive lights but I’m not using standard 356 rear reflectors for the IVA test (due to worries about the radius /sharp edge rules). Instead I am fitting round 2” round IVA compliant ones. As it stands they will be f...

Re: Rear garnish rails / mouldings
Yes, would be good to know for sure if Gary does fibreglass ones as I image they would be purpose fit for his cars! I have the ones for the doors. They’re original A ones and they are a good fit. I have a small but growing pile of genuine Porsche parts that I bought expecting them to fit but they do...

Rear garnish rails / mouldings
Can anyone tell me if genuine 356A Rear garnish rails (the mouldings that sit below the rear quarter windows) will fit into my Speedster Clinic coupe please?
I want to avoid an expensive mistake if they don’t fit as I’ve already made a few of those with my build already!

Re: Battery vs spare wheel
I wouldn’t pay £260 for a starter motor. I’ve had Aircooled VWs since 1990 and the aftermarket starters I’ve bought have always been fine.

Re: Three Five Six - Ideas in Motion
I’m not even giving any thought to the “finished article” until after I’m through the IVA. Once I’m road legal I’m looking forward to the fun part - fitting all the bits I’m holding off fitting now (bonnet handle, badges & scripts, bumpers, bumper trims, side deco trims, mirrors, horn grilles, e...

Re: Burnt Pig - 356 Pre a Build Thread
“Will be getting some £10 look like shite mirrors from Car Builder Solutions for IVA” - this is exactly what I have done. They look hideous so cannot even face fitting them until I really have to. I have aero mirrors going on post-IVA. On the exhaust question. I have a nice Turbo Thomas Sebring exha...
