Re: 550-spyder

I spent a serious amount of time researching a couple of 550 cars in the past, you can normaly detect a remanufactured chassis and a repiared one,one way or another. There are many prototypes out there with the same chassis number, the id and ownership is what is important today, along with a correct ch...

Re: 73T Corner weighting using ADA Corner gauge?

Yeh thats the way forward graham, coil overs all the way. Your rear toe should now be fine, front castor fine. Front toe can be straight ahead,or toe in,later cars like gt3 /cup etc like toe out on the front. Sounds like you have had enough, they can be a pig to do when no lift or raised flat floor. No...

Re: 73T Corner weighting using ADA Corner gauge?

Graham are you sure about rear toe at zero,it might get a little interesting in a corner. It may be sucking eggs, but normaly you want some rear toe in,enough so that it never toes out in a corner on the rear.As these oh cars flex alot, extra toe in is one thing while flexing, toe out not so great in an...

Re: 73T Corner weighting using ADA Corner gauge?

Good effort graham,i should have loaned you a foam floor matt for yur bones. Dont worry if its not 1 deg,.5 to 1 works well, its all about the air getting out quicker than it goes in under the car,and of course steering grip. Strings are best for set up,laser only as good as the quality of user, kit a...

Re: 73T Corner weighting using ADA Corner gauge?

Hi graham Couple of little tricks that may help' Tack some washers on the spring plates, under the adjuster nuts, and or scribe around them,it will give you a good starting point. Get as much rear toe as you can on standard slot spring plates, you be lucky to get 2mm per side as standard and get as muc...

Re: Lightweight bodyshell - tired but still in one piece

I can’t really see any downside in buying it. Any body shell is worth having nowadays as rusty ones are so difficult and expensive to repair. I think I’m going to go for it and get a local member of the US Porsche Club to inspect it for me prior to sending the money. Since these specialists are so ...

Re: Modern GT/RS - Which one?

All the cars i have seen supercharged ended up slower on the hillclimbs, great for tyre warming and posing a burn out.Remember chasing a charged 993 at silverstone once in my 993 cup car,we got by it as it was having a right mare out of every corner, driveability is key!

Re: Modern GT/RS - Which one?

Paul, I'm trying hard to imagine you in a Spider , but can't. I did buy a 2005 SLK AMG350 in September though, just for those times we old guys are temped with somthing different. My mum was a hairdresser once, that should qualify me:) Seriously cracking little car that spider. Only just seen the gt...
