Re: The Purple Peril
As yet, they have black centres which we intended to anodise in RS style...but we're beginning to think we quite like this lower-key look. Any thoughts? Do them properly, much nicer imo. Nice build btw 8) I think the correct wheel finish and, perhaps, front & rear bumper trims would be nice fin...

Re: RS
You would have thought that the ad and pictures would have been better at that price.
I wonder that is a genuine 'warranted' mileage from new?
Nice carpets!

Re: The Purple Peril
I hadn't seen the engine pictures before - it really is 'work of art' and a good indicator of the quality of the whole project.
Very impressive!

The All New G&K Carrera RS Book
Received my numbered copy a few weeks ago. Very impressed - a lot more material added since the original edition was first published 20 years ago. IMO, a 'must have' for any RS enthusiast. It's the perfect book for the down-time over the Christmas period, to relax and actually read. Just a 'heads up...

Re: The Purple Peril
I've seen the 'Purple Peril' - in fact I saw the restoration project at various stages. I'd describe it as a largely original car, with a few period deviations and later upgrades to enhance its appearance and functionality. Make no mistake; Jason's attention to detail and the quality of the workmans...

Re: O/T 1977 VW Golf - garage find
I well remember your various GTis, Nigel. I despair at much contemporary car design. Gone are the clean , functional, compact lines. Bit like watches - bigger, blingier, but uglier - design for design's sake IMO. And, I really can't keep up with the current BMW, Audi, Mercedes, - even Porsche - rang...

Re: Original Carrera RS book going cheap!
Why would you need to drive an RS on track? Yes, you can exploit it there, but it's probably a more rewarding and communicative road car, at semi-sensible speeds, than many of today's hi-performance offerings. 'The Book' is an essential companion for all owners, prospective buyers and serious enthus...

Re: What value would you put on the following.........
£30k, but that's just an uneducated guestimate - Coupe would be worth quite a bit more

Re: 964
Wow!!! Often wondered where it was. I ordered it new from Malaya Garage in Billingshurst in 1989, arriving IIRC March 1990. It was my 'daily' user when I lived in London and Bath. Great car, fondly remembered. I actually sold it to a friend when I got a 993, in '94 I think. Love to see some pics - m...

Re: 964
I had two 964s, both bought new in '90 and '92, and then two new 993s in '94 and '95, each used as my daily drive. I enjoyed the 964, although the 993 was a positive step forward. When the 964 RS was launched it wasn't very well received - most commentators found it too compromised on most UK roads ...
