Re: 1973 US 911T 2.4 MFI - Mark A

Hi All, Long time since I've been on here with an update. Lots been going on. I managed to correct my cock up of installing the dash cover before fitting the wiper motor. Now sorted with rivnuts. Lots of progress elsewhere. Engine is in fuel system is in, Jonny's CDI+ is in and she is running! Plent...

M3 rivnuts are the only ones that fit. Just waiting for M3 bolts to land in the post to see if I can rescue this.

Re: 1973 US 911T 2.4 MFI - Mark A

Ah OK, yes I split the mechanism at the lower joint. There seems to be reasonable clearance above the fixings for a rivnut or pop rivet. Certainly preferable to trying to get the dash out with the screen in. This is possible but risks breaking fixings and or the dash structure when you twist it. ht...

Re: 1973 US 911T 2.4 MFI - Mark A

Rivnuts is a good call but not much swing room under there :(

I presume it is possible to remove the dash pad with the windscreen in?

Re: 1973 US 911T 2.4 MFI - Mark A

Should still be OK, I've taken the wipers out with removing the dash before. Honestly can't remember how other than it being really fiddly and losing a knuckle or two! Theres a kind of webbing insulating hanger that is attached to the top of the dash structure, i took that out rather than leave the...

Re: 1973 US 911T 2.4 MFI - Mark A

Arrggghhh! big school boy error I think. I've got the dash pad and windscreen back in and I forgot to install the wiper motor assembly that is attached through the top of the metal dash area first

Any ideas on how to solve or do I have to take the dash out?

Great work Mark. Good job you got that engine in before your pals were confined to their homes! You'll at least have something to keep you busy at home. Enjoy the rest of the build and watch that fresh paint. Al. Thanks! Yes, I've got plenty of solo work to do. Already going to need a couple of pai...

Re: 911 brake fluid breather hose

I'm just thinking about this on my 73T resto. Is there not also moisture exposure in having it open to the elements, strikes me that we all know about brake fluid absorbing moisture but then have a system thats open to the air? Can the system be left plugged or does it need expansion room?

seat rail refinishing

Hi All, I've had a search on this but not found anything yet. Any advice on how to refinish the seat rails on my 73T ? What did the factory do, are they galvanised or more likely bright zinc plated? Do I have to separate the rails to have this done? Also i can see there is a plastic bush or stop in ...
