Re: 911/912 Fuel flap release

That was what I was hoping but this one won't budge, put it in a vice with soft jaws and tried a pair of grips on the metal end and got to a point where I daren't tighten the vice any more for fear of braking the plastic. Will try soaking it for a while in some penetrating fluid.

These guys will be able to help with that:

They'll also make replacements to spec as a one off if necessary.

Garage rent (what's reasonable?)

So I rent a council garage in Watford, it's far from an ideal arrangement for looking after a classic car but as I'm sure you're all aware its a tough habit to get out of your system! A few years ago the council privatised the management of all their housing stock and the garages went with it. Rent ...

911/912 Fuel flap release

So the cable snapped on mine the other day, luckily it came open at the same time. No problem, replacement cable ordered and delivered. I was thinking from the look of the new cable that I could simply unscrew the knob from the old one and screw it on to the new cable end. However try as I might wit...

Re: Auspuff

Its a 1720 with a Neutek SX-1 cam. I am leaning heavily towards putting the stock unit back on as soon as I have cleaned it up, I can find plenty of powder coaters local to me but no one that offers ceramic coatings so its looking like a wire brush and some VHT paint from Frosts will have to do (pri...

Re: 912 clutch kit

I sent mine to Auto Industrial friction in Bedfordshire, it was a few years ago, my Dad who uses them more often tells me the original owner has sadly passed away but the business is still going. I had 2 friction plates fitted with new float springs and the surface relined (nice to have a spare read...

Auspuff

So a number of years ago I came across a second hand Bursch extractor set up on ebay that seemed too good to pass up. However on fitting I started to question whether it was the genuine article since: The header is terminated in a 3 bolt flange and came with a muffler fitted yet neither the header n...

Re: Cylinder head 3 & 4 side needs to be better?

The 356/912 engine shares a design feature of the early VW in that the oil cooler being located inside the fan housing means that when it is in operation cylinders 3 and 4 are being cooled with air that has been pre-heated by passing through the oil cooler (as I'm sure the vw-resource article explai...

Re: I'm back!

Shouldn't be long now before its back on the road, I've asked Ron about some pedal boards, brakes are all re-fitted with recon calipers and master cylinder, new solid lines and goodrich braided hoses. Had the throttle lever out yesterday and it looks like someone has been there before, its not bent ...

Re: I'm back!

Yes, the diagram is handy thanks for that. Its the top rose joint on part 25 that is the problem area on mine. Its close enough that you can push the pedal all the way down then the rose joint gets caught on the tunnel aperture and it won't release! I'll have the pedal box out when I get a chance an...

I'm back!

Okay so my 912 Porsche project has taken a back seat for a couple of years and been slumbering in the garage following a scary brake failure on the A5 whilst life in general has gotten in the way. Been helping with renovations on a retirement property for my parents who both have unfortunately been ...

Re: Harry Pellow engine assembly videos

I contacted Mary Pellow and received the following reply: My son Andrew Pellow is still selling the books & a DVD of the engine rebuilding series. I have copied Andrew here & he should send a reply in a day or two. If not, please let me know & we can come to some arrangement. Thank you s...

Re: Harry Pellow engine assembly videos

I bought a set direct from his family via http://maestroslibrary.com/ though it would seem they are not taking orders at the moment :( It took me a few attempts to get in touch and I found the phone (leave your number and they ring you back since the man himself has passed away and his family kindly...
